Why: On approach to Cuzco, flight instrumentation detected an unsafe gear. After flying in a holding pattern, ultimately, the Airbus landed safely.
Qatar Airways flight QR-708 had to make an emergency landing at Lajes Field, Portugal, after encountering severe turbulence on December 4th.
The plane was heading from Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, to Doha, Qatar, when it ran into severe turbulence that injured 3 people.
The plane landed safely. The injured were taken to hospital.
United Airlines Flight 5064 had to return and make an emergency landing at San Francisco International Airport, California, on April 1.
The plane, bound for Calgary, Canada, had to turn back some 30 minutes into the flight after the crew reported smoky odor in the cabin.
The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained safe.
The flight was being operated by SkyWest Airlines.
Japan Airlines flight JL-724 had to return for an emergency landing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 26th.
The Boeing 787-900 plane took off for Narita International Airport, Japan, but had to turn back due to a technical issue.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

What: United Airlines Airbus A319-100 en route from Denver to Des Moines
Where: Omaha
When: Aug 10th 2010
Why: After take-off, the flight ran into weather.
The pilot diverted to Omaha, where they made a safe landing. However, on departure from Omaha, the plane developed engine vibration, and had to return to Omaha.
Open Skies flight BA-8004 had to divert for an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on December 26th.
The Boeing 767-300 plane, operating on behalf of British Airways, was en-route from Newark, New Jersey, to Paris Orly Airport, France, when all the toilets failed.
The crew subsequently decided to divert to Shannon where the plane landed safely.
All 172 people aboard remained unharmed.
Peruvian Airlines flight P9-112 made a hard landing at Francisco Carle Airport, Jauja, Peru, on May 1st.
The Boeing 737-500 flying from Lima, Peru, had just landed when its left main tyre burst.
All 90 passengers aboard remained safe.
The tyre was replaced immediately.
