    Azur Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Russia

    Azur Air flight ZF-6334 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Novosibirsk, Russia, on January 23rd.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Phuket, Thailand, to Samara, Russia, was diverted after the airport crews found pieces of rubber on the departure runway.

    The plane landed safely. All 116 passengers and 7 crew members remained safe.

    ICAO’s Dangerous Goods Panel Proposes Ban on Lithium Batteries in Passenger Planes

    ICAOA recent meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Dangerous Goods Panel (DGP), held in Montreal, discussed the proposal for banning lithium batteries as cargo in passenger air crafts.

    According to the meeting report, the DGP agreed to prohibit lithium batteries in cargo, except those which are packed or contained in some equipment or are kept in the aircraft cabin by the passengers. The panel further proposed Jan. 1, 2015 as the effective date for start of prohibition.

    The DGPs decision will be presented for final approval.from the Air Navigation Commission (ANC) in late April,

    The report states that “the ANC may adopt the DGP’s decision but has within its prerogative, the option of amending/extending it…..The actual text of the decision, including associated consequential amendments, can be expected towards the end of May.”

    Saudi Arabian Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Saudi Arabia

    Saudi Arabian AirlinesSaudi Arabian Airlines flight SV-1794 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Abha Regional Airport, Abha, Asir, Saudi Arabia, on April 3rd.

    The Airbus A320-200, en-route from Jazan to Dammam, was mid-air when it had to divert after the crew was reported that there had been fumes of light emitted from the food preparation area of the plane.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All passengers onboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were rebooked onto another flight.

    Flight School Cessna and Military Piper Collision In Argentina

    What: (Fuerza Aérea Argentina) Argentine Air Force Piper PA-A28-236 Dakota light aircraft
    Where: Mercedes Airport, Argentina
    When: 21-NOV-2011 09:45 LT
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: On approach to Mercedes Airport, an Argentine Air Force Piper PA-A28-236 Dakota collided with an aviation school Cessna 152.

    Both the flight school crew members in the Cessna 150 were killed in the crash. The Piper PA-28 landed safely. The two military personnel aboard the Piper survived.

    According to witness Boloni Eduardo, the Air Force plane cut the back of the Cessna with its propeller, causing it to fall

    Firefighters, police, ambulance, Air Force, and Civil Aviation Accident Investigation Board were on the scene. Mercedes is a public air field with no control tower.
