    Qatar Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Doha

    Qatar Airways flight QR-307 had to return and make an emergency landing in Doha, Qatar, on October 21st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Helsinki, Finland, but had to turn back due to a technical issue.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and fifty people aboard remained unharmed.

    Southwest Airlines Plane Returns to Washington after Burning Fuel

    southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines flight WN-2701 had to return and make an emergency landing at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, Washington, on May 23rd.

    The Boeing 737-300, en-route to Saint Louis, Missouri, had to return when the crew initiated a descent to around 10,000 feet.

    The plane burnt fuel and returned safely.

    No one was injured.

    Condor Flight Rejects Takeoff From Mombasa

    Condor flight DE-2282 had to reject takeoff from Mombasa, Kenya, on May 29th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Zanzibar, Tanzania, when one of the engines ingested birds, prompting the crew to reject takeoff

    The plane safely returned to the apron.

    All two hundred and thirty passengers and ten crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Easyjet Airbus 319 en route from Gatwick to Lanzarote
    Where: Nantes
    When: Sunday November 29, 8.30am.
    Who: 136 passengers
    Why: After a takeoff during stormy weather, the plane was struck by lightning. The plane returned to London and made a safe landing. After landing, the plane was checked out and deemed safe, and went on to make the flight to Lanzarote.

    A passenger describes the experience.

    “There was a huge flash and a loud bang. The plane shuddered and there was quite a lot of turbulence, the worst I’ve ever experienced. Then the aircraft suddenly dropped dramatically and some people were quite scared. As we landed back in Gatwick, we had fire-engines chasing us down the runway.”

    Emirates Plane Pulled Off the Runway due to Smoke

    Emirates Airlines flight EK 609 was pulled off the runway at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, just before takeoff at about 7:45 p.m. on October 4.

    The Airbus 320 was ready to depart with 82 passengers aboard when the pilot detected smoke in the cockpit and called for emergency assistance. All the passengers and crew members were safely evacuated through chutes.

    “All the passengers and crew members were evacuated and the plane has been parked on one side. No one was hurt,” said Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson Pervez George.

    The airline said that the passengers were accommodated in another flight and the cause of smoke is being investigated.
