Why: On takeoff, the plane struck a bird, evidenced by a “bang” emitting from an engine, which followed by engine issues. The plane landed safely and passengers were rerouted.
What: Air India Airbus A319-100 en route from Bhopal to Indore
Where: Bhopal
When: Oct 19th 2011
Who: 70 passengers
Why: The Air India flight took off normally but once in the air developed a hydraulic failure.
The flight returned to the airport and made a safe landing after being in the air for a quarter of an hour.
Passengers were booked on alternative flights.

Why: On landing, the front landing gear were malfunctioning, so they retracted the gear and performed a “belly” landing, where they hydroplaned 100 yards to a stop.
Demeritt has been flying for 20 years.
LOT Polish Airlines flight LO-3885 had to return and make an emergency landing in Warsaw, Poland, on August 28th.
The plane took off for Katowice, Poland, but had to return shortly afterwards due to technical issues.
The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
Jetstar flight JQ 189 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, at around 10 a.m. on February 3.
The plane was en-route from Gold Coast to Christchurch when it developed some engine problems.
According to the airline, “The captain requested a priority landing and the aircraft landed without incident. We’re currently investigating. We will work to get customers on their way to Christchurch as soon as possible.”

What: AirAsia X Airbus A340-300 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Paris France
Where: Paris
When: Mar 1st 2012
Why: On landing in Paris, a main gear tire burst.
Passengers for the return flight were provided overnight accommodations as a couple of tires and other parts were replaced.
What: Jetlite Boeing 737-700 en route from Mumbai to Ranchi to Patna
Where: Patna Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport
When: Jun 1st 2011
Who: 100 aboard
Why: On landing at Patna, the plane had a bird strike on one of the engines.
The plane made a safe landing at Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport anyway, although the next leg of the return (to Mumbai) had to be delayed due to damage to the plane.
