    Sriwijaya Runway Overrun

    On March 27, a Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-500 en route from Medan to Padang had a runway overrun when landing at Padang at 18:00.

    The plane came to rest past the end of the (8860 feet) pavement.

    The Sriwijaya Boeing that skidded and closed the runway at Minangkabau International Airport on Wednesday 3/27/2013 has been successfully evacuated and moved across the airport apron.

    Minangkabau Airport flight activity is now running normally.

    There were no injuries when the aircraft registered as PK-CLJ skidded off the runway.

    The number of passengers aboard was not released.

    Turbulence Injures Passenger over Atlanta

    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from San Francisco to Atlanta
    Where: Atlanta
    When: Nov 13th 2011
    Who: 1 injury
    Why: While on approach to Atlanta, the flight encountered turbulence.

    One person was injured.

    The flight made a safe landing, and no other injuries were reported.

    Cargo Fire Alert Diverts Flight to Dulles

    What: American Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Washington DC to Dallas /Ft. Worth
    Where: Dulles International Airpor
    When: Nov 12th 2010
    Why: After takeoff, a cargo fire alert convinced the pilots to divert to Dulles, where they made a safe landing; and passengers disembarked on to the tarmac. The passengers were transported to the terminal and provided alternative transportation. No actual fire was found.

    Tam Airbus Diverts to Miami

    What: TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A330-200 en route from Orlando,FL to Sao Paulo Brazil
    Where: Miami
    When: July 19th 2011
    Why: While en route, the odor of smoke was detected.

    The crew diverted the flight to Miami where they made a safe landing less than half an hour after smoke was detected.

    Seven hours later, hopefully after a good inspection, the flight continued to Sao Paulo.

    Delta Emergency Landing in Cape Girardeau

    What: Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-88 en route from Atlanta to St. Louis
    Where: Cape Girardeau Regional Airport
    When: Sept 19 2010
    Who: 132 passengers 5 crew
    Why: While en route, smoke was detected in the cabin.

    The plane made a safe landing in Cape Girardeau. The evacuated passengers were taken by bus to St. Louis

    Aer Lingus Plane Returns to JFK due to Hydraulic Failure

    Aer LingusAer Lingus flight 110 had to return and make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on September 28.

    The Boeing 757 that took off for Shannon airport, Ireland, was diverted after the pilot reported landing gear door problems, hydraulic failure, and no flaps.

    Fire was sparked in the left rear brakes as the plane touched the runway. Emergency responders immediately extinguished the fire and all 104 passengers were transported back to the terminal safely.
