Everglade Collision 3 Possibly 4 Fatalities


What: 1979 single-engine Cessna was registered to Rohan Aviation of Lantana and flown by a student pilot from Lantana Airport en route to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.
Airline Transport Professional Piper registered to Harry Duckworth en route from Ocala to Pompano Beach
(The specific models have been deleted due to conflicts)
Where: 2.7 miles southwest of Holiday Park (six miles northwest of Pompano Beach and about two miles into the Everglades)
When: both planes departed Saturday (12/06) afternoon
Who: Cessna-2 passengers Piper-1 person on board. The alleged victims include flight instructor Stuart Brown, and pilot Bryan Sax.
Why: The planes collided west of U.S. 27 and south of Alligator Alley in the Everglades. No survivors. The NTSB is investigating. Only one of the flights had a flight plan. The exact number of individuals in the student flight is under dispute. The wreckage is located in an area accessible by airboat.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Jackson County, GA

    A small plane made an emergency landing on Highway 441 in Jackson County, Georgia, on August 15th.

    Authorities said the pilot of the Piper PA-24 plane decided to land on the highway due to an engine failure.

    Richmond Attorney Killed in North Carolina Plane Crash

    CessnaA celebrated aviation expert and attorney, Albert M. Orgain IV, was killed after his single-engine Cessna 182 went down in a field, around 5 miles southwest of the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport in North Carolina, on June 27.

    The aircraft took off from Sabot Airport, located west of Richmond, Virginia, and was destined for the Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport. According to the FAA, the plane crashed after the pilot reported engine trouble at about 10 a.m. and diverted the plane to the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport.

    The plane was registered to Albert M. Orgain IV, who was an aviation expert, a Richmond-area attorney and a member of Sands Anderson law firm. Sands Anderson law firm confirmed that Orgain was flying the plane at the time of accident.

    The FAA and NTSB is investigating the cause of crash.

    Everglades Crash

    What: Bull Gator Air, Inc. Piper-PA 32 en route from Gainesville to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport
    Where: west of U.S. 27 at the Broward-Palm Beach county line in the Everglades
    When: Sunday Sept 20
    Who: 4 aboard. One “confirmed” dead though there are presumably no survivors.
    Why: After the pilot radioed in for help, the plane crashed in the Everglades while en route. The cause is unresolved and the search is ongoing for passengers’ remains.

    Small Plane Crashed in Hawaii; 3 Injured

    A small plane crashed near Moanalua Freeway in Mapunapuna, Hawaii, on June 30th.

    The Piper PA28 plane was carrying three people when it went down under unknown circumstances.

    All three occupants of the plane sustained serious injuries, and were taken to a trauma center.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    Gear Up Landing in Vegas

    Where: Henderson Executive Airport, Nevada
    When: Nov 26, 2011
    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: The pilot of a Cessna 230 returned to the airport and made an emergency landing at Henderson Executive Airport when his landing gears did not come down. There were no injuries.

    Henderson Fire Department responded.

    Small Plane Crashed in the Bahamas; Two Killed

    A small plane crashed at South Bimini Airport in the Bahamas, on June 19th.

    The Piper Aztec 27 plane, carrying two people, went down minutes after it took off from the airport.

    Both occupants of the plane were killed in the crash. Their identities have not yet been released.

    The accident is being investigated.
