EasyJet flight U2-6819 made an emergency landing at Berlin Schoenefeld Airport, Germany, on October 4th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Glasgow, Scotland, was descending toward Berlin Schoenefeld Airport when the crew requested emergency assistance due to a burning odor in the cockpit.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela flight VH-302 had to return and make an emergency landing in Caracas, Venezuela, on February 12th.
The plane took off for Porlamar, Venezuela, but had to return shortly afterwards after one of the engines emitted flames and a loud bang.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Azul Linhas Aereas flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Viracopos International Airport, São Paulo, Brazil, on May 4th.
The Embraer ERJ-195, flying to Brasilia, Brazil, had to return after a vulture hit the captain’s windshield.
The aircraft received substantial damage.
The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers after 1:45 hour delay.

Why: While en route, the right engine was shut down. According to wptv witnesses aboard the flight, “there was an explosion. Then, all of a sudden, everything stopped, and it just got totally quiet, and everyone started to panic.” Passengers took photos of the plane’s stopped propellor; and then the plane began shaking, and they could feel the weight on the left side.
Pilots returned to Portland and made a safe landing. An inspection of the plane is underway.
A replacement jet was provided.
Jet Airways flight 9W-2423 had to make an emergency landing at Khajuraho Airport in Madhya Pradesh, India, on April 13.
The airport authorities said the plane, operating on the Delhi-Varanasi-Khajuraho route, had to declare emergency due to a technical snag.
According to the airline, “The aircraft, a Boeing B737-800, experienced a technical problem with the landing gear. Safetychutes were deployed and all the 59 passengers and eight crew on-board the aircraft disembarked safely and were transferred to the terminal.”
The incident is being investigated.
United Airlines flight UA-863 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Honolulu International Airport, Honolulu, Hawaii, on December 31.
The Boeing 777-200, flying from San Francisco, California, to Sydney, Australia, had to divert due to smoke in the cockpit.
The plane landed safely.
No one was injured.
SilkAir Private Limited flight SQ-182 made a safe landing at Brunei International Airport, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, on December 13.
The Airbus A320-200 was en-route from Singapore, when a bird hit its left side wing on its approach to Brunei airport.
The plane landed safely.
All passengers aboard remained unhurt.
