Delta Airlines flight DL-35 made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on November 12th.
The plane heading from Paris, France, to Seattle, Washington, was diverted due to an issue with the water system.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Air India flight AI-131 had to return and make an emergency landing in Mumbai, India, on December 30.
The plane took off for London United Kingdom, but had to return shortly afterwards after a rat was spotted on-board.
The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
A replacement aircraft was arranged for the passengers.
The incident is being investigated.
Qantas flight QF-2164 had to return and make an emergency landing in Sydney, Australia, on June 19th.
The plane took off for Port Macquarie, Australia, but had to turn back due to a lightning strike.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Why: About to take-off, the plane had two flat tires, and had to be towed. Passengers debarked, the flight was cancelled; and the airline provided hotel accommodations for the passengers.
What: Easyjet Airbus A320-200 en route from Athens Greece to Manchester
Where: Manchester
When: Jan 27th 2012
Why: On approach to Manchester, at 1300 feet the plane was struck by lightning, burning the fuselage under the cockpit window.
The first approach was aborted due (apparently) to snow on the runway. The plane circled for less than half an hour before making a safe landing.
American Airlines flight AA-94 had to return and make an emergency landing in Managua, Nicaragua, on October 11th.
The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Miami, Florida, when it suffered a bird strike. The crew continued takeoff but subsequently returned to Managua.
Everyone aboard remained safe.
Delta flight 95 had to turn back for emergency landing at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Georgia, on January 18.
The Boeing 777, en-route from Atlanta to Narita, Japan, had to return after a pilot of another flight reported smoke coming out of its landing gear.
The plane landed safely and all 308 people aboard remained unharmed.
Firefighters and technicians inspected the plane and cleared it at around 1 p.m. after which it again took off for Japan.
