    United Airlines Flight Diverts to Tallahassee due to Smell of Smoke in Cabin

    United Airlines flight UA-1239 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Tallahassee, Florida, on June 13th.

    The Boeing 737-900 plane heading from Miami, Florida, to Chicago, Illinois, was diverted after smell of smoke was noticed in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. There were one hundred and fifty-five people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Ukraine International Emergency Landing

    On January 15, a Ukraine International Airlines flight PS34 encountered problems. Thirteen minutes after taking off, pilots returned the Boeing 737 to Lviv Airport, the airport of departure after smoke developed in the cabin. Repairs were performed and the plane was out of service only for part of the day. News source Zic reported that passengers aboard were screaming that the plane was burning. Emergency landing instructions are only reported in Ukrainian so foreigners must have been mystified about what was happening. No injuries were reported; and passengers were provided alternative transportation.

    Bird-Hit Latam Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Brazil

    LATAMLatam Airlines flight JJ-3527 had to return and make an emergency landing in Porto Velho, Brazil, on June 5th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane, en-route to Brasilia, Brazil, had to turn back after one of the engines ingested a bird, resulting in severe engine vibrations and noises.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    American Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Portugal

    American Airlines flight AA-66 had to divert for an emergency landing in Porto, Portugal, on January 22nd.

    The plane was flying from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, to Barcelona, Spain, when the crew decided to divert due to an engine oil issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 151 passengers and 8 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    Envoy Air flight MQ-3375 had to divert for an emergency landing in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 17th.

    The Embraer ERJ-175 plane heading from Springfield, Missouri, to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, was diverted due to loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. All thirty-nine passengers and four crew members remained unharmed.

    SkyWest Airlines Plane Returns to California due to Landing Gear Issue

    SkyWestSkyWest Airlines flight OO-5025/UA-5025 had to return and make a safe emergency landing at Redding Municipal Airport, Redding, California, on July 13th.

    The Canadair CRJ-200 en-route to San Francisco, California was climbing out of Redding’s runway when the crew failed to retract its landing gear.

    The plane landed safely.

    All people onboard remained unharmed.
