Caribbean Airlines flight BW-480 made a safe emergency landing at Fort Lauderdale- Hollywood International Airport, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on June 1st.
The Boeing 737-800, en-route from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, was mid-air above Bahamas when the crew had to initiate an emergency descent after encountering loss of cabin pressure.
The plane landed safely.
All people onboard remained unharmed.
Ryanair flight FR-9525 was intercepted by Belgian fighter aircraft over Netherlands, on February 10th.
The aircraft were dispatched after the Boeing 737-800 plane, heading from Lublin, Poland, to London Stansted Airport, England, lost contact with the ATC.
The communication was subsequently re-established, and the fighter jets returned to their bases.
The flight continued to London Stansted Airport.
KLM flight KL-723 returned and made a safe emergency landing at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Amsterdam, Netherlands, on June 6th.
The Airbus A330-300, en-route to Havana, Cuba, was mid-air when the crew reported an abnormal decrease in its oil quantity.
The plane diverted to Ireland but then continued for Amsterdam, and landed successfully.
All people onboard remained unharmed.
The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.
Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ-535 had to make an emergency landing in Perth, Australia, on October 15th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Denpasar, Indonesia, but had to turn back due to loss of cabin pressure.
The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained uninjured.

What: Silkair Airbus A319-100 en route from Singapore to Solo Indonesia
Where: Solo
When: Mar 6th 2012
Who: 124 passengers and 7 crew
Why: On landing at Solo, the plane touched down with the left main gear afire.
Passengers evacuated by way of emergency slides. There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the gear fire is under investigation although SilkAir says the smoke originated in overheated breaks and that there was no fire.
Airblue flight PA-274 had to return and make an emergency landing in Islamabad, Pakistan, on January 30th.
The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike.
The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
Allegiant Air flight 426 had to make an emergency landing at Hector International Airport, Fargo, North Dakota, on July 21.
The airport was closed for the US Navy’s Blue Angels’ rehearsals, when the pilot requested an emergency landing due to dangerously low fuel level.
The plane landed safely and all 114 passengers and 6 crew members aboard remained unhurt.
It is believed that the Boeing MD-80, en-route from Las Vegas was scheduled to land at the airport 12 minutes before it was closed, however, the flight’s take off was delayed.
The incident is being investigated.
