    KLM Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Atlanta

    KLM flight KL-624 had to return and make an emergency landing in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 8th.

    The plane took off for Amsterdam, Netherlands, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew detected a water leak into the avionics.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. All 325 people aboard remained safe.

    The plane took off for Stockholm, Sweden, but had to turn back due to a gear problem.

    KLMKLM flight KL-1576 had to go around before making a safe landing at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Netherlands, on January 27.

    The Boeing 737-800, en-route from Athens, Greece, had to fly around the airport due to some technical problem.

    The plane landed safely.

    TAM Crash Families File Suit in Florida

    ACCIDENT: Attorneys for the families of passengers killed on TAM Linhas Aereas Flight 3054 filed 58 wrongful death lawsuits in Florida last week. The 17 July 2007 crash, the worst in Brazil’s history, killed 187 on board and 12 people on the ground when an A320 attempted a go-around at Sao Paolo’s Congonhas airport and slammed into a building just past the runway end. The investigation in part is focusing on whether the pilots mishandled landing operations in light of a known inoperative thrust reverser. Parties named in the lawsuits include TAM, leasing company Pegasus Aviation, Airbus, Airbus Customer Services, thrust-reverser provider Goodrich and International Aero Engines.

    Southwest Airlines Flight Diverts to Las Vegas due to Hydraulic Failure

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-1111 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 30th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane heading from Phoenix, Arizona, to Reno, Nevada, was diverted after the crew reported a hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All one hundred and seventeen people aboard remained safe.
