KLM flight KL-1576 had to go around before making a safe landing at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Netherlands, on January 27.
The Boeing 737-800, en-route from Athens, Greece, had to fly around the airport due to some technical problem.
The plane landed safely.
No injuries were reported.
Fiji Airways flight FJ-410 had to return and make an emergency landing at Auckland Airport, New Zealand, on June 15th.
The Boeing 737-800, en-route to Nadi, Fiji, had to return after the crew failed to retract its landing gear.

Qatar Airways flight QR-932 made an emergency landing in Manila, Philippines, on September 5.
The Boeing 777-300 was en-route to Manila from Doha, Qatar, when it faced clear air turbulence causing emergency landing.
Five people aboard including 3 children and 2 flight attendants sustained injures as they were not wearing seat-belts.

Why: The plane had been carrying 148 passengers from Surabaya, East Java to Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. The flight had stopped overnight in Bali because El Tari Airport (the destination) was closed due to another incident. Passengers were already wound up, because they’d spent the night actually in the airport–with no overnight compensation or accommodations.
The plane was about to take off when passengers, believing the plane was on fire screamed and rushed the exits, forcing the door open and jumping from the plane. Six were injured leaping from the plane (which was not on fire) without any ramps.
Passengers had seen normal exhaust smoke when the pilot started up the engines.

Dr. Hampton came to Boeing’s attention when he posted his photos on The Boeing Store’s Facebook page (http://facebook.com/boeingstore), where he was twice recognized for submitting the “Photo of the Week.”
“We are trying to find a few unique opportunities during each year for some of the more than 73,000 fans we have on our Facebook page to engage with Boeing,” said Director of Brand Management & Advertising Jim Newcomb. “Dr. Hampton’s enthusiasm for aviation is obvious in every photo and comment he has posted. It didn’t take us long to realize we had an opportunity with the roll out that was too good to pass up.”
Dr. Hampton’s trip will include stops at several Seattle-area locations at which he can photograph Boeing airplanes, a visit to the Future of Flight Museum in Everett, which is near the facility where Boeing builds the new 747-8, as well as the 787 Dreamliner and the 747, 767 and 777 airplanes, and access to the Feb. 13 roll-out event.
“There aren’t too many things that really can be called the opportunity of a lifetime but this is one of them,” Hampton said. “My heart has always been with aviation. I attend as many air shows as I can and I always bring my camera. It’s amazing. I have been thinking about it and talking about it since I got the call last week.”

Jet2.com flight LS-362 had to make an emergency landing at Belfast International Airport in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, on March 24th.
The plane was flying from Palma de Mallorca Airport, Spain, when the crew received a fire indication and declared emergency.
The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.
No evidence of fire or smoke was found upon inspection.

Why: While the plane was en route, a passenger was charging his cell phone, which started overheating, which set off the fire alarm in the lavatory. The flight diverted to Shannon, where it made a safe landing.
Fire crews at Shannon were on standby during the emergency landing. Airport aircraft maintenance company engineers examined the plane and discovered the melted phone.
