CommutAir flight C5-2672/UA-2672 had to return and make an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, on April 7th.
The De Havilland Dash 8-200, en-route from Virginia to New York, had just climbed out of Washington Dulles’s runway when it experienced aileron mistrim, prompting the crew to return.
The plane landed uneventfully.
All passengers onboard remained unhurt.
The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.
Kulula flight MN-111 encountered severe turbulence near Cape Town, South Africa, on June 7th.
The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Johannesburg, South Africa, was on approach to Cape Town International Airport when it hit turbulence that injured a passenger.
The plane continued for a safe landing.
Envoy Air Flight 3530 had to return and make an emergency landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York on April 30.
The plane took off for Detroit but had to turn back shortly afterwards after one or more birds hit its left wing flap.
The plane landed safely. All 62 passengers aboard remained unhurt.

What: Aerolineas Argentinas Boeing 737-700 en route from Sao Paulo Brazil to Buenos Aires Argentina
Where: Sao Paulo
When: Feb 2nd 2012
Why: After takeoff from Sao Paulo, the flight suffered an bird strike, which disabled it. The vibrating engine had to be shut down. Pilots returned to Sao Paulo a quarter of an hour after leaving.
Passengers were provided alternative transport.
Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8005 made a safe emergency landing at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport, Iran, on June 26th.
The Airbus A319-100, flying from Baku, Azerbaijan, was about to reach its destination when the crew noticed an unsafe gear indication.
The plane landed safely.
No one was injured.

What: Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from from Chicago to Salt Lake City
Where: Denver
When: December 4, 2009
Who: mother and child
Why: About 130 miles NW of Denver, an expectant mother aboard the 737 delivered a baby boy. A doctor was on board and assisted. The flight diverted to Denver when the baby was born. Mother and son were taken to a Denver hospital, and the flight continued to Salt Lake City.
Reportedly, the pilot announced that a new patient had just boarded.
