    United Airlines Plane Returns to Newark Liberty International Airport

    United airlinesUnited Airlines flight 922 had to return and make an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, New Jersey, on January 14.

    The flight departed for London Heathrow Airport at around 10 a.m. but had to turn back shortly afterwards after the crew reported smoke in the cabin.

    The Boeing 767-300 landed back uneventfully. All 84 passengers and 13 crew members remained unharmed.

    Airline spokesperson Rahsaan Johnson said, ‘We cancelled the flight so our maintenance team could service the aircraft, and we provided customers alternate flights to their destinations.’

    Primera Air Nordic Plane Makes Emergency Landing in France

    Primera AirPrimera Air Nordic flight 6F644 had to make an emergency landing in Nantes, France, on February 28th.

    The airline said that the Boeing 737, en-route from Tenerife, Spain, to Stockholm, Sweden, was diverted after the crew heard unusual noise coming from one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All 169 passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    Some passengers reported that the plane’s engine was on fire.

    The incident is being investigated.

    EasyJet Plane Returns to UK due to Hydraulic Issues

    EasyjetEasyJet flight U25259 had to return and make an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport, England, on September 13.

    It is believed that the Airbus A319, heading to Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Italy, had to turn back due to hydraulic issues.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    Everyone aboard remained safe.

    What: Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300 en route from Fort Lauderdale,FL to Chicago
    Where: Tampa International Airport
    When: Mar 30th 2010
    Who: 136 passengers
    Why: After takeoff, the landing gear remained stuck in the down position. After circling the airport for half an hour, the flight landed safely at the Tampa airport, with emergency vehicles on standby.

    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from New York to Rome
    Where: near Halifax
    When: Nov 15th 2009
    Who: 72 people on board
    Why: While en route, the plane encountered light turbulence. After changing flight levels several times and flickering of/on seat-belt signs, the crew requested a return to NY, suffering problems arising from only one operable altimeter. The crew managed to land the plane safely

    Sunstate Airlines Flight Hits Severe Turbulence in Canberra; 3 Injured

    sunstateSunstate Airlines flight QF-2130 hit severe turbulence in Canberra, Australia, on October 10th.

    The plane flying from Melbourne, Australia, was descending toward Canberra when it ran into severe turbulence that injured two crew members and one passenger.
