Air Canada flight 623 made an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia, Canada, on January 8.
According to the airline, the pilot reported an “acrid odour” and requested an emergency landing back at the airport. The plane was heading to Toronto at the time.
The Embraer 190 regional jet landed safely.
All 66 passengers remained unhurt.
The Southwest Airlines flight 424, from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to Chicago Midway International Airport, had to divert and land in emergency at Port Columbus International Airport, Ohio, at 2 a.m. Central Time on July 23.
The pilot decided to make an emergency landing after there was an indication of smoke in the forward cargo hold.
The plane landed safely and slides were used to evacuate the 49 passengers on board. No one was hurt.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating. Southwest Airlines has declared the plane out of service for inspection.
An alternate was flight arranged for taking the passengers to their destination.
AirAsia X flight D7-523 made an emergency landing at Naha Airport in Okinawa, Japan, on February 26th.
The Airbus A330-300 plane heading from Tokyo, Japan, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was diverted after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.
The plane landed safely. All three hundred and sixty-nine passengers and ten crew members remained unharmed
Swiss Global Air Lines flight LX-1248 made an emergency landing in Stockholm, Sweden, on April 7th.
The plane flying from Zurich, Switzerland, was on final approach to Stockholm when the crew reported an issue with the brakes and went around.
The plane subsequently landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Delta Airlines flight DL-44 made an emergency landing at St. John’s International Airport, Canada, on January 31st.
The plane heading from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, to Dublin, Ireland, was diverted after a passenger suffered a medical emergency.
The plane landed safely.
Swiss International Airlines flight LX-41 made an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on May 11th.
The plane was flying from Los Angeles, California, when it experienced a hydraulic failure, prompting the pilots to declare an emergency.
The plane landed safe. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.
LOT Polish Airlines flight LLP8015 made an emergency landing at the Burgas airport, Bulgaria, on November 19.
The plane, heading from Warsaw, Poland, to Hurghada, Egypt, was diverted after a passenger said there was a bomb onboard.
The plane landed safely.
All 161 passengers remained unharmed.
