Air India Gag Order Causes Strike

Ground crew and engineers of Air Corporation Employees union are on strike over the gag order issued by Air India, leading to over 40 cancelled flights. The Union had sent 75 members to assist with the critical Mangalore crash. Air India responded to the crash with a gag order to the staff over a Bangalore-Delhi Airbus 320 which had diverted to Mangalore the day of the crash when there was no engineer to certify it except a non-qualified Kingfisher engineer.

On arrival in Delhi, the Air India engineers would not re-certify the Airbus. The rule violation prompted the gag order.
