Emergency Landing in Phoenix

US Airways Phoenix to Philly developed engine vibration in a left engine and returned to Phoenix.The Boeing 757 circled Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport for 90 minutes to burn off fuel then in spite of unwanted oscillation, made a safe landing at 10:50 a.m. Passengers were provided other flights.

United Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in El Dorado
United Airlines flight 3579 had to make an emergency landing at South Arkansas Regional Airport in El Dorado, Arkansas, on March 7th.The plane, heading from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, to Indianapolis, Indiana, was diverted after smoke was noticed in the cabin.
The plane landed uneventfully. All 66 passengers and 4 crew members remained safe.

What: PA-32 sight-seeing in Alaska
Where: Knik Glacier, about 113km northeast of Anchorage
When: Sunday August 8, 2010 1 pm
Who: pilot, Donald Erbey, 49 and 4 friends
Why: Erbey had taken Texas friends sightseeing in his small family Piper 32. When he realized he was flying into bad weather, he turned to head back, “hit a downdraft” and crashed in a snowbank, leaving them stranded since Sunday on Knik Glacier, Alaska.Monday evening, highly trained pararescuers—Maj. Jesse Peterson, Master Sgt. Al Lankford, Tech. Sgt. Chris Uriarte and Tech. Sgt. Angel Santana—braved a 4 mile trek to walk in food and supplies. The plane’s locator beacon was operable.
Helicopters with additional supplies and support are in the area but weather conditions have not permitted drops or a rescue. They have adequate resources to wait till weather clears enough for helicopters to land as hiking out is a last resort.
Monarch Cargo Plane Lost in Nassau

Who: 2 passengers aboard
Why: The cargo plane was en route to Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport when it vanished from radar.It crashed in the Atlantic, north of Nassau. A man’s body has been recovered. A U.S. Coast guard helicopter and 3 Royal Bahamas vessels are searching for the missing passenger. Neither has been identified.

U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Coronado
A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter made an emergency landing in an empty parking lot near Silver Strand State Beach in Coronado, California, on August 8th.
Authorities said the crew decided to land as a precaution after a warning light in the cockpit came on.
The helicopter landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

American Airlines flight AA-5494 made an emergency landing at Dulles International Airport, Virginia, on January 14th.The plane heading from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Virginia, to Saint Louis, Missouri, was diverted due to a gear disagree message.
