    TAM Airlines Plane Returns to Madrid Over Bomb Threat

    TAMTAM Airlines flight JJ8065 had to return and make an emergency landing at Barajas International Airport in Madrid, Spain, on December 15.

    The Boeing 777 took off for Sao Paulo, Brazil, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bomb threat.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Airbus makes Emergency Landing in Russia

    What: Airbus A340 en route from Paris to New Caledonia
    Where: Khabarovsk Russia
    When: 1:10 pm
    Who: 242 passengers, 14 crew
    Why: The pilots were well underway when they received an indication that one of its four engines was on fire.

    The pilots diverted to Khabarovsk. The airport responded with a 54 person emergency response team.

    The flight made a safe landing, with no injuries. Passengers evacuated without incident.

    California Chopper Collides with Plane Midair

    Why: The helicopter clipped the plane over Rio Vista. The chopper was eight miles from the airport when it crashed.

    Although the contact broke off the tail of the chopper and ended the severed rotor up 50 feet from the fuselage, the pilot walked away. She was reported to be unhurt; She is an experienced commercial airplane pilot who was logging night-flying hours alone toward a helicopter license.

    Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Daytona Beach

    Delta Airlines flight DL-685 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Daytona Beach, Florida, on July 10th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Atlanta, Georgia, to Port au Prince, Haiti, was diverted after a hail strike cracked the windshield.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All one hundred and thirty-two people aboard remained safe.

    Transavia Flight Returns to Amsterdam After Lightning Strike

    Transavia flight HV-5661 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on January 5th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Las Palmas, Spain, but had to turn back after a lightning strike.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All one hundred and sixty-seven people aboard remained safe.

    Emirates Airlines Plane Makes Safe Landing in Pakistan after Bird Strike

    EmiratesEmirates Airlines flight EK-612 made a safe landing at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, Pakistan, on September 9.

    The Boeing 777-300, flying from Dubai to Islamabad was struck by a bird while it was about to land.

    The aircraft sustained significant damage and could not depart for the return flight EK-613.

    No injuries were reported.
