    Emergency Landing in Monterrey

    What: Mexicana Click Fokker 100 en route from Mexico City to NEW LAREDO
    Where: Monterrey

    Who: 96 passengers (one site reports 29 passengers and 4 crew)
    Why: The Mexicana Click made an emergency landing in Monterrey when it developed a fault in the undercarriage. It apparently made a safe landing, with no emergencies although it appear one individual may have been suffering from hysteria. Rescue crews were on hand. Other flights were cancelled.

    UN Cessna Crashes in Bolivia, 6 Perish


    FAB-341 Cessna 210 Centurion Fuerza Aerea Boliviana

    What: Fuerza Aérea Boliviana Cessna T210 Turbo Centurion en route from El Alto International Airport in La Paz
    Where: Santa Elena River, Iquisiva Province, La Paz
    When: May 5 2011
    Who: 6 aboard
    Why: The Bolivian Air Force plane piloted by the air force and carrying four United Nations workers was doing a fly-by and did not return at 2:30 as scheduled. The plane, which had been missing since May 5 and a search going on in Yungas (Coroico, La Asunta and Caranavi). The flight was located near the Santa Elena River, where it appears that it hit a tree during an emergency landing.

    The passengers lost in the crash were Ivan Alfaro Santiago, Estephan Campos Ruiz, Mariela Romero Torreblanco and Patricia Delgado Rua, and the Cessna was being flown by Lt. Néstor Álvaro Ottich Arenas and Lt. José Javier Alegría Estrada.

    American Airlines MD-82 Emergency Landing

    What: American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-82 en route from San Diego,CA to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX
    Where: San Diego
    When: Feb 3rd 2010
    Who: 106 passengers and 5 crew
    Why: After takeoff, the right engine experienced a couple of compressor stalls, resulting in a couple of loud explosive-sounding bangs. The crew decided to return to San Diego where they made a safe landing. The flight was cancelled, passengers rebooked.

    ACT Airlines Airbus Engine Fire; Aborted Takeoff

    What: DHL Bahrain/ACT Airlines Airbus A-300B4-200 en route from from Bahrain to Bagram
    Where: Bahrain/
    When: Apr 10 2010
    Who: 7 crew members
    Why: On takeoff, the right engine caught fire and scattered debris on the runway. The plane rejected takeoff and rolled to a stop. Subsequent flights were delayed during runway cleanup. No injuries were reported, and emergency services handled the engine fire.

    Air Canada Aborts Flight in Vancouver

    What: Air Canada Boeing 767-300 en route from Vancouver to Shanghai
    Where: Vancouver International Airport
    When: August 21, 2010
    Who: 166 passengers and 9 crew
    Why: Twenty minutes after leaving, the pilot returned to Vancouver after detecting a whistling sound from a cockpit window. The flight entered a holding pattern, then made a safe landing.

    Passengers were provided an alternative plane while this plane was scheduled for maintenance.

    Organ Transplant Flight Crashes; 4000-5000 affected

    What: Frandley Aviation Partnership Cessna 501 Citation I/SP en route from Belfast to Birmingham
    Where: Birmingham International Airport, UK

    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: On a mercy mission carrying a liver for transplant, the Cessna 501 Citation corporate jet was damaged while landing at Birmingham International Airport in heavy fog, striking the landing system glide path antennae and ending up 426 feet to the right hand side of the runway, while on fire. The plane was damaged beyond repair.

    The crash closed the airport. 80 cancelled flights have affected up to 5000 passengers.

    However, the liver was undamaged, and transplanted into the patient on Friday in a 4 hour operation at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The transplant patient is reported to be in stable condition.

    The pilot and passenger were injured; the 58 year old pilot suffered injuries to the chest, abdomen and pelvis. The passenger in his thirties suffered a back injury and flash burns. The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance pilot entered the burning plane to cut the fuel supply so the fire service could extract the pilot. The airport is closed.

    Police provided an escort to the ambulance carrying the transplant to QE.
