What: UPS Boeing 747-400 en route from Louisville to Dallas
Where: Louisville
When: April 14 2010
Who: 2 crew
Why: After takeoff, multiple systems failed, and the crew decided to make a cautionary landing. No explanation has been provided any more explicit than generic “multiple system failures” but whatever the problem was, by Wednesday the plane was back in the air.

What: Air France Airbus A340-300 en route from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Detroit
Where: Cork
When: May 2nd 2012
Why: While en route, the plane developed a technical problem and had to divert to Cork and make an emergency landing.
The technical problem involved transponder data. After maintenance, the plane was returned to service.
British Airways Flight 103 from London Heathrow airport, United Kingdom, to Calgary, Canada, had to return and make an emergency landing on the evening of August 12.
Smoke was discovered in the cockpit of the Boeing 767 while it was flying over Liverpool. The pilot requested an emergency landing which was immediately granted.
According to a British Airways spokesperson Michele Kropt, “It [the plane] landed safely and all passengers disembarked as normal.”
She confirmed that the engineers were inspecting the aircraft to determine the cause of smoke.

What: Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-DLJ performing flight FR-9052 from Alicante Spain to Brussels Belgium
Where: Brussels
When: Jan 18th 2011
Why: On approach to landing in Charleroi, the plane developed engine vibrations.
The flight made a safe landing. No report has been released regarding the cause of the engine vibration.
UtAir flight UT-456 made an emergency landing in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, on December 27th.
The Boeing 737-500 plane heading from Noyabrsk to Moscow, Russia, was diverted due to indication of an issue with the air conditioning system.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
