    LATAM Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Brasilia

    LATAM Airlines flight JJ-8081 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Brasilia, Brazil, on July 23rd.

    The Airbus A350-900 plane heading from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, to Sao Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport, Brazil, was diverted due to issues with the fuel leak detection system.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Delta Airlines Flight Diverts to Chattanooga due to Cargo Smoke Indication

    Delta Airlines flight DL-2826 made an emergency landing in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on July 17th.

    The plane heading from Atlanta, Georgia, to Nashville, Tennessee, was diverted due to a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Eastar Jet Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

    Eastar Jet flight ZE-623 made an emergency landing at New Chitose Airport, Japan, on September 1st.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Seoul, South Korea, was on approach to New Chitose Airport when the crew declared an emergency due to a gear well fire indication.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All one hundred and twenty-three passengers and six crew members remained unharmed.

    Russia Bans AN- 12 planes For Safety non-compliance

    The Federal Service for Transport Supervision of Russia, aka Rostransnadzor has posted on its website that “it decided to suspend flight operations on all An-12 aircraft operated by airlines in the Russian Federation, until the airlines take priority measures to lower the risk of operating a fleet of An-12 aircraft in accordance with established safety management systems.”

    In the Russian Federation, 6 airlines operate 12 active AN- 12 planes. The safety issue came to the forefront with the recent flight shown below:

    What: Avis Amur AN12 AN-12 en route from Magadan to Keperveyem

    Why: While en route, the plane developed an engine fire and radioed that they would be returning to Magadan. The fire is being attributed to a fuel leak. The flight crashed on the way back, disappearing from radar. Fog and adverse weather prevented rescue teams from being able to fly in. The 9 crew and 2 attendants have been reported missing. The plane was carrying 16 tons of food.

    The cargo plane was being leased from KnAAPO. Rescuers took a ground route to the area of the crash. The emergency beacon went off 10 kilometers from the Omsukchan village. No survivors were found.

    Avis-Amur is being investigated for a maintenance of safety violations, and there may be criminal charges pending.

    At 21:13 (NBC) 08/09/2011 from Khabarovsk to Magadan flew the plane of the Be-200ES Aviation Rescue Emergency Center of Russia, who will take part in the search for the missing in the Magadan region of the AN-12. Search operation in the area proposed for finding the plane continues. Capacity is being gang.     Turbulence Injures 3 over Dulles

    What: United Airlines Express / Pinnacle Airlines / Colgan Airlines two-engine SAAB 340 en route from Parkersburg, WV
    Where: Dulles International Airport
    When: 3:35pm Oct 24 2009
    Who: 11 passengers
    Why: While en route from West Virginia, the flight suffered turbulence, injuring a flight attendant and a passenger. Both struck their heads.

    The plane made an emergency landing amid heavy rain and with gusty winds at Dulles; and both injured women were taken by ambulance to the hospital. An injured male passenger was treated at the airport.

    New York-Bound Aer Lingus Flight Returns to Dublin Airport

    Aer Lingus flight EI-105 had to make an emergency landing at Dublin airport, Ireland, on February 21.

    The plane took off for New York’s JFK International Airport but had to return shortly afterwards due to an issue with landing gear.

    The plane landed safely. All 266 passengers on board remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
