    Why: At Sharjah International Airport, a Russian cargo plane made an emergency landing when a fire developed in one of its four engines. The pilot shut down the affected engine and made a safe landing. The aircraft is currently grounded at the Sharjah airport pending repair and investigation.

    The incident occurred four days after the Azza Transport B707 at Sharjah on Oct 21st 2009 went up in a fireball and grounded the airport for several hours.

    TAP Portugal Airlines Flight Returns to Lisbon due to Engine Problem

    TAP Portugal Airlines flight TP-89 had to return and make an emergency landing in Lisbon, Portugal, on February 14th.

    The Airbus A340-300 plane took off for Sao Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport, Brazil, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported an engine issue.

    The plane landed back safely. There were 177 passengers and 11 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Codorus Township Field

    A small plane made an emergency landing in a field in Codorus Township, Pennsylvania, on March 23rd.

    The pilot Craig McDonald, of Columbia, Maryland, said he decided to make an emergency landing after his single-engine Cessna 162 plane lost power. He remained unharmed in the incident.

    The plane was flying from Lancaster Airport, Pennsylvania, to Carroll County Regional Airport, Maryland, at the time.

    FedEx Plane Lands in Emergency at Wichita

    FedExA FedEx cargo plane made an emergency landing at the Mid Continent Airport, Wichita, Kansas, shortly before 5 p.m. on August 15.

    The pilots decided to go for emergency landing after the windshield of the aircraft cracked midair.

    According to Officer Kourt Klassen, emergency crews were present at the runway when the plane safely landed. There were 2 people aboard the plane at the time; both of them remained unhurt.

    According to the FedEx spokesperson, the plane is being evaluated by the maintenance crew. The cargo was transferred to another aircraft to avoid any delays in deliveries.

    LOT Polish Airlines Flight Returns to Warsaw due to Landing Gear Issue

    LOT Polish Airlines flight LO-3825 had to return and make an emergency landing in Warsaw, Poland, on August 20th.

    TAROM flight RO-421 had to return and make an emergency landing at Henri Coanda International Airport, Romania, on April 26th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane took off for Barcelona, Spain, but had to turn back due to a crack in a cabin window.
