Flybe flight BE-4447 made an emergency landing in Birmingham, England, on May 30th.
The plane heading from Doncaster, England, to Faro, Portugal, was diverted after the crew reported that the captain was feeling unwell and that they were also experiencing technical issues.
The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.
JetBlue flight B6-385 had to return and make an emergency landing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on August 10th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Bridgetown, Barbados, but had to turn back after at least three crew members fell ill mid-air.
The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and one passengers aboard remained unharmed.

What: SA Airlink JS41 en route from from Durban to Pietermaritzburg
Where: Durban
When: Sep 24th 2009
Who: 4 people, (3 crewmembers) and a woman working on the ground at the school perimeter, have been airlifted to local hospitals. The captain is critical, the other 3 with serious injuries.
Why: The plane had smoke coming from its engines, lost height after takeoff.
The crew called Mayday and reported engine loss and smoke. They attempted an emergency landing in the field in front of a school and impacted the fence surrounding the school.
Preliminary examination apparently shows the hand engine was operating under full power and the left engine failed.

The fact that anyone at all survived this indicates that the emergency landing was a success.
However, maintenance is suspect.
EasyJet flight U2-6950 made an emergency landing in Manchester, England, on December 14th.
The plane heading from Tenerife, Spain, to Edinburgh, Scotland, was diverted after a passenger suffered a medical emergency.
The plane landed safely.
Peach Aviation flight MM-504 flight had to return and make an emergency landing in Okinawa, Japan, on October 15th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Tokyo Narita Airport, Japan, but had to return shortly afterwards due to hydraulic failure.
The plane landed uneventfully. All 118 people aboard remained safe.

What: Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-88 en route from Atlanta,GA to Baltimore

Why: After takeoff, when the plane’s nose gear could not be retracted, the crew returned to Atlanta and made a safe landing. A replacement jet was provided for the passengers.
US-Bangla flight BS-315 had to return and make an emergency landing in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on March 24th.
The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but had to turn back due to a fuel filter bypass indication.
The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and sixty-four people aboard remained unharmed.
