Vietnam Airlines flight VN-1201 made an emergency landing in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on June 21st.
The plane, en-route from Hanoi to Can Tho, Vietnam, was diverted due to a crack in first officer’s windshield.
The plane landed safely. There were 177 passengers and 7 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.
An Indigo flight had to divert and make an emergency landing at Chaudhury Charan Singh airport, Lucknow, India, on June 14.
According to airport director SC Hota, “Indigo flight from Bhubaneswar to Delhi had to make emergency landing at the airport here at 8:17 PM yesterday as a passenger Shivkumar Panigrahi (52) had cardiac arrest.”
The plane landed uneventfully.
The sick passenger was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
A Jetstar flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Auckland airport, New Zealand, on December 13.
The plane had just taken off for Dunedin, New Zealand, when it started ‘jerking and shuddering’, prompting the pilots to declare an emergency.
The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.
On December 12, 2013, an Air Canada Jazz de Havilland Canada DHC-8-311 took off from Nanaimo Airport en route to Vancouver when the plane developed an engine fire.
Fire broke out over open water when the plane reached cruising altitude minutes after leaving the airport. Passengers reported hearing a loud bang, and on the side of the plane, they saw flames from the affected engine.
The pilot shut down the engine, and they made a safe landing. The crew also discovered an engine oil problem just prior to the fire.
This was the first emergency landing at the Nanaimo Airport, which was shut down for four hours after the incident. Emergency services responded to the scene. Passengers used stairs to exit.
Passengers spoke positively about the crew. No one was injured.

Why: The helicopter experienced engine problems, forcing an emergency situation. On landing, the helicopter sustained minor damage to its tail boom.
No one aboard was injured.
Wings Abadi flight IW-1896 veered off the runway at Achmad Yani International Airport, Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, on December 25th.
The Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A flying from Bandung landed safely on the runway but veered off and came to a stop with its right main gear collapsed.
The aircraft received substantial damage.
No injuries were reported.

Passengers reported hearing noise from the engine, which jarred the plane.
Pilots shut down the engine and diverted back to Belo Horizonte where they made a safe landing. There is no indication if it was a bird strike or some other type of mechanical problem.
