    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Detroit

    United Airlines flight UA-153 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Detroit, Michigan, on November 5th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane heading from Chicago, Illinois, to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was diverted after it encountered moderate to severe turbulence.

    The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

    What: Merpati Nusantara Airlines de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter 300 en route from Jayapura to Oksibil Indonesia
    Where: unknown
    When: Aug 2nd 2009
    Who: 13 passengers and 2 crew
    Why: Initially the weather was reported to be foggy, but 2 hours after the flight, thunder storms were reported. The tower has not been contacted since 10:35 and although the flight was due at 11:05, it never arrived.

    State owned PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines is sending out another twin-otter to search for the missing plane. It was lost while passing through the Jayapura to Oksibil route

    United Airlines Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Las Vegas

    United airlinesUnited Airlines flight 519 had make an emergency landing at McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 9.

    The Airbus A320 was flying from O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, when the crew declared emergency due to possible braking and steering issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 157 passengers aboard remained unhurt.

    What: AeroSur Boeing 737-300 en route from Buenos Aires to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia
    Where: Matienzo Airport
    When: NOV 13, 2009
    Who: 59 passengers
    Why: After takeoff from, the plane developed a problem with the left engine and diverted to Matienzo, for a safe landing.

    Mechanics worked on the plane for five hours before passengers reboarded and continued on to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.

    Martinair Plane Diverts to Shannon Airport due to Cargo Smoke Indication

    Martinair flight MP-7342 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on May 12th.

    The Boeing 747-400 freighter plane heading from Miami, Florida, to Amsterdam, Netherlands, was diverted after the crew received a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    American Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Tulsa

    American AirlinesAn American Airlines jet 767 made an emergency landing at Tulsa American Airlines Base in Oklahoma, on June 10.

    The Boeing 767 was at the airbase for routine service. The pilot took a test flight but immediately declared emergency, returned to the base, and landed safely.

    According to airport spokeswoman Alexis Higgins, the decision for emergency landing was made after the pilot reported a flight control problem.

    Only four crew and technical staff members were aboard the jet at the time of emergency landing; all of them exited safely.
