    Air Arabia Egypt Plane Diverts to Cairo due to Engine Issues

    Air ArabiaAir Arabia Egypt flight E5-337 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Cairo, Egypt, on June 29th.

    The Airbus A320-200, heading from Borg El Arab Airport, Alexandria Governorate, Egypt, to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was diverted due to problems with an engine.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 120 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    What: American Eagle E135 en route from Fayetteville, Arkansas to LaGuardia
    Where: Springfield-Branson National Airport.
    When: Sep 2nd 2009 6:40
    Who: 22 passengers on board
    Why: When smoke appeared in the cockpit, the pilot made an emergency landing in Springfield. No injuries reported and the source of the smoke was not found.

    Not too sure how the passengers felt about ending up in Springfield instead of NY though.

    ExpressJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Chattanooga

    ExpressJetExpressJet flight EV-5583 had to return and make an emergency landing in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on September 22nd.

    The plane took off for Atlanta, Georgia, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew noticed that a nose gear door was open.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Mahan Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Iran

    mahanMahan Air flight W5-1054 had to return and make an emergency landing in Kerman, Iran, on April 12th.

    The plane took off for Tehran, Iran, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported issues with the cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

    Coast Guard Rescues 4 in Gulf of Mexico

    What: Helicopter afloat in Gulf of Mexico
    Where: Terrebonne Parish
    When: September 1, 2010, 8:40 a.m.
    Who: Reid Aldrich of Nampa, Ind., David Portlock of Lafayette, Brian Meadows of Carencro, and John Howell of Cape Coral, Fla.
    Why: Helicopter over the Gulf of Mexico made an emergency landing IN the Gulf, staying afloat with flotation devices until rescued by two Coast Guard Dolphin helicopters. Good Samaritan fishing vessel, Nhu-Uyen and motor vessel CAPT. Joel assisted in the rescue. The injured were taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center. There were no fatalities.

    Small Plane Crashed in Barrow County, GA; Two Killed

    A small plane crashed at Barrow County Airport in Winder, Georgia, on February 16th.

    Barrow County Emergency Services Captain Scott Dakin said the airport employees spotted the wreckage while coming back after the lunch break. “When they came down the road they did see the plane in the wood line just along the road here… They called it in, upon our arrival we did have a small fire that was handled by our guys,” he said.

    Two people were killed in the crash. They were identified as Shannon Ewing, and his nephew, Henry Ewing.

    The accident is being investigated.
