    Where: Boston

    Who: 25 passengers
    Why: While en route, the plane developed a problem with the flaps. After declaring an emergency, the pilot made it safely to Logan, landing without flaps.

    Small Plane Crashes in Ocala National Forest

    A small plane crashed in Ocala National Forest, Florida, on September 28th.

    Authorities said the plane went down in a densely-wooded area in the 7400 block of County Road 314A.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center. He was identified as Herb Francis Clark Jr., 71, of Weirsdale, Florida.

    JAL Business Class Fire over Tokyo

    What: A JAL Japan Airlines Boeing 777-200 en route from Tokyo to Sydney
    Where: Tokyo
    When: Jan 14th 2012
    Who: 260 aboard
    Why: About twenty minutes after takeoff, a passenger’s armrest caught on fire in business class. After the fire was put out, the pilots dumped fuel, and the flight returned to Tokyo where it made a safe landing.

    The fire has been attributed to a passenger’s lighter.

    Alitalia Flight Rejects Takeoff due to Bird Strike

    Alitalia flight AZ-111 had to reject takeoff from Amsterdam, Netherlands, on April 15th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Rome Fiumicino Airport, Italy, when the crew rejected takeoff due to a bird strike.

    The plane safely returned to the apron.

    All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at DFW Airport

    American Airlines flight AA-2856 made an emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, on November 4th.

    The plane flying from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was descending toward DFW Airport when the crew reported engine issues.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All fifty-three passengers and four crew members remained unharmed.

    Air France Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Milan–Malpensa Airport

    Air France flight AF-1605 made an emergency landing at Milan–Malpensa Airport, Italy, on October 17th.

    The plane heading from Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Italy, to Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, was diverted after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines due to a possible fuel leak.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
