    Air Ambulance Emergency Landing

    What: NSW Air Ambulance A Beech King Air 350 (VH-NAO) o en route from Sydney to Wagga Wagga

    Who: 3 aboard
    Why: A patient, flight nurse and pilot were uninjured when an emergency developed aboard the flight.

    The patient was being taken to Wagga Wagga when the plane had an undercarriage indication failure. The pilot returned to the airport and did a flyby for visual confirmation that the landing gear was not locked in place; and then made a safe landing at Sydney Airport in Mascot.

    The elderly female passenger was transferred to an ambulance and driven to a hospital.

    US-Based Cargo Plane Crashes Off St. Maarten

    A cargo plane, operating flight SKZ7101, crashed just after taking off from St. Maarten-Princess Juliana International airport, located in St. Maarten, a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on October 29.

    The plane, operated by a U.S. company SkyWay Enterprises was heading from Philipsburg on St Maarten to San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it went down into ocean around 3.2 kilometers from the airport.

    There were 2 pilots aboard the aircraft at the time of accident. One of them was found dead while the other one is still missing.

    The cause of accident is not clear at the moment. According to the local officials, an investigation will be conducted with the assistance from the U.S.

    4 Die in a Single Engine Piper Crash

    piperlausanneFour people were killed after a single engine Piper 32 plane, en route from Hereford, Texas, to Gettysburg, South Dakota crashed in foggy weather, in a wind farm. According to FAA records, the plane was registered to Donald J. Fischer, from Gettysburg, South Dakota.

    The incident occured, when the passengers of ill-fated airplane were returning after attending a sale of live cattle and embryos in Hereford. The wreckage of crashed plane was found on Monday, April 28, at the South Dakota Wind Energy Center, located towards south of Highmore and containing 27 turbines, having a height of 213 feet, excluding the blade length.

    Three passengers and the pilot were pronounced dead in the incident. Luce Funeral Home confirmed the pilot’s identity as Fischer, 32, while Lien Funeral Home revealed identities of 2 passengers as Logan Rau, hailing from Java and Brent Beitelspacher, belonging to Bowdle. The identity of third passenger is not known at the moment.

    A spokesperson of Florida-based NextEra Energy Inc., Steve Stengel confirmed that the incident caused damage to turbine. He also said, “It’s been so foggy up there and we haven’t had a chance to investigate.”

    NTSB is investigating the cause of accident.

    Iranian Crash Update: Black Boxes Found

    What: An Iranian Caspian Airlines Russian-made Tupolev passenger jet en route from Tehran (Iran) to Yerevan
    Where: near Jannatabad village 75 miles northwest of Tehran
    When: July 15 2009, crashed 11:30 am, 16 minutes after takeoff
    Who: 153 passengers and 15 crew including eight members of Iran’s youth judo team and two trainers. Another report said simply there were “over 150” aboard.
    Why: After the pilot complained of technical problems, witnesses reported that the plane caught on fire while still in the air, then smashed up when it hit the ground.
    Update:
    The Russian-made plane’s Russian-made black boxes have been found. They are badly burned; however, and may be sent to Russia for assistance in data recovery. There is already a Russian team on the way to help investigate. An Iranian Insurance company promises $58,000 to the families of victims.

    The 22-year-old TU-154M has not been produced since 1996. Most of the passengers were Iranian; seven were Armenians or Georgians. One Canadian woman and her son (Nana Antasyam and her son, Edward Khachik ) were reportedly also on board, as well as a pair of Australian siblings who may have had dual citizenship.

    Currently, there are five reported survivors: the flight crew of three, and a woman with a child.

    The flight manifest lists 28 aboard, including 9 children plus 2 infants.

    A dense fog and heavy rains hampered search crews that included Mi-8 helicopters, an AN-26 plane and an An-74.

    Deputy of parliament of Yakutia Alexander Morozkin and the head of Republican investment company Victor Yefimov may be aboard. The pilot’s name is Mikhail Nikolaevich. The extent of his injuries have not been released.

    Small Plane Crashes in Switzerland; 3 Killed

    A small plane crashed in the Canton of Valais in Switzerland, on August 20th.

    Authorities said the plane was carrying three people when it went down near the Sanetsch Pass.

    All three occupants of the plane were killed in the crash.

    The accident is being investigated.
