Currently, there are five reported survivors: the flight crew of three, and a woman with a child.
The flight manifest lists 28 aboard, including 9 children plus 2 infants.
A dense fog and heavy rains hampered search crews that included Mi-8 helicopters, an AN-26 plane and an An-74.
Deputy of parliament of Yakutia Alexander Morozkin and the head of Republican investment company Victor Yefimov may be aboard. The pilot’s name is Mikhail Nikolaevich. The extent of his injuries have not been released.
FAA air traffic controllers provided the pilot outdated flight visibility information that made navigation difficult for Steven Bunker. Bunker had requested an “airport surveillance radar approach”, a ground-based radar approach. After the FAA air traffic controller told him she could not provide “airport surveillance radar approach” service, the four people in Bunker’s helicopter died.
On Sept. 27, 2008, the medevac helicopter that crashed in a wooded area of Walker Mill Regional Park: Kenneth Mallard, State police pilot Stephen J. Bunker, Trooper 1st Class Mickey C. Lippy and Ashley J. Younger.
Jordan Wells who was also aboard, survived.
Kenneth Mallard was an EMT for the Waldorf Volunteer Rescue Squad. Michael Loyola Rowan, his wife Tanya Mallard’s lawyer, is filing a $7 million federal lawsuit against the FAA for ” not doing everything necessary to ensure a safe landing for the Maryland State Police Trooper 2 helicopter.” Christina P. Lippy has sued for $15 million.

What: Bellenca 17-31ATC Super Viking en route From Oregon to Wyoming Where: 13 miles East of Ukiah, Oregon When: June 12, 2011 Who: 3 aboard Why: The small plane crashed after taking off from Dallesport Washington. The wreckage was found near Ukiah in a remote area set in the mountains. The forest service cut a road into the area to make it accessible. According to reports, two bodies were found; the third was missing but also declared a fatality.

On July 5, 2013 around 4 pm, a Heartland Transmission Project helicopter transporting equipment to a tower crashed near Fort Saskatchewan. When the helicopter grazed the 64 metre tower, the pilot lost control.
One report says a worker fell from the helicopter but this has not been confirmed.
Two men were aboard; they were both taken to University of Alberta hospital in serious condition. The lineman was airlifted.
Transportation Safety Board and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety will be investigating, as well as the Heartland Transmission.Project.

What: Azza Air Transport Antonov An-12BP en route from Khartoum to El Fasher Where: 25 miles SW of Omdurman Khartoum,Sudan When: Oct 7 2012 Who: 22 aboard, 15 fatalities Why: The pilot of a Sudanese military plane informed the airport that he had a problem with one of his engines before the plane crashed in a rural area west of the capital Khartoum. Twenty armed forces personnel were on board. The Antonov military transport plane was carrying military equipment from Khartoum to the capital of North Darfur.
Initially thirteen people died on the Azza Air jet, and nine were injured.
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) are investigating.
What: Pamir Airways Antonov AN-24 en route from Kundus to Kabul Afghanistan Where: Kabul on May 17th 2010 When: May 17th 2010 Who: 38 passengers and 6 crew Why: Lost connection with ATC 40 minutes from the airport. The wreckage, found at Salang Pass, displayed no sign of life.

On April 7, 2013, a Helicópteros del Pacífico (Helipac) Mil Mi-8PS with 13 aboard crashed near Perenco Oil in Peru.
There were four crew and nine passengers aboard—all Peruvian— when the flight crashed in the Napo River. Hernán Cervantes Paiva, Trider Pasmiño and Máximo Rolando Cuello have been identified.
The helicopter failed at 11:00 a.m.
Perenco Peru made a public announcement regarding the crash:
“Perenco Peru regrets to announce an accident involving a MI-8 (P 1916 OB) helicopter operated by HELIPAC. The helicopter came down with 13 passengers on board during a routine flight from Iquitos to Block 67. Those on the flight, all Peruvian nationals, comprised nine passengers and four crew members. The passengers included one Perenco employee and representatives of three contractors.
The Peruvian Army is at the scene and two additional helicopters are supporting the rescue efforts. At this stage, no survivors have been found.
The company is working closely with the relevant authorities and is providing what support it can to the families of those involved. “

The Peruvian Air Force activated the System Search and Rescue (SistemaSAR), which mobilized National Search and Rescue Twin Otter aircraft to land in the water in Curaray with the rescue team.
