    Swift Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tulsa

    Swift Air flight WQ-2228 made an emergency landing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on December 8th.

    The Boeing 737-400 plane heading from Long Beach, California, to Raleigh–Durham International Airport, North Carolina, was diverted due to a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Smoke Sends US Airways Passengers on a Bus

    What: US Airways Boeing 737-400 en route from Dallas to Charlotte.
    Where: Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport
    When: April 18, 2011, 1 pm
    Who: 94 passengers, 5 crew (also reported as 107 aboard)
    Why: After pilots smelled smoke in the cockpit, they diverted the flight to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport where they made a safe landing with local emergency responders as well as fire crews from Pelham-Batesville and Boiling Springs, and Greenville and Spartanburg EMS were on standby when the plane landed.

    After the plane was grounded, passengers were taken by bus to Charlotte.

    PIA Plane Crashes in Pakistan; 48 Feared Dead

    piaPakistan International Airlines flight PK-661 crashed in Havelian, near Abbottabad, Pakistan, at around 4:45 pm on December 7.

    The Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-500 flying from Chitral to Islamabad, Pakistan, crashed due to the failure of its left engine. The plane had lost control with the radar shortly before it hit the ground.

    The wreckage caught fire right after the crash.

    There were 42 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time. All of them were killed.

    The black boxes have been recovered and handed over to Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

    The investigation is underway.

    Transaero Sensor Error

    What: A Transaero Airlines Boeing 737-300 en route from Atyrau to Almaty
    Where: Kzyl-Orda
    When: Dec 8th 2009
    Who: 81 passengers and 9 crew
    Why: While en route, the crew detected a faulty fuel flow sensor and diverted to Kzyl-Orda for repairs, after which passengers resumed the flight on the same plane.

    LGW Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter Plane Returns to Germany due to Landing Gear Problem

    LGW Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter flight AB-8512 had to return and make an emergency landing at Berlin Tegel Airport, Tegel, Germany, on July 26th.

    The de Havilland Dash 8-400 flying on behalf of Air Berlin to Salzburg, Austria, had to return due to some issue with its landing gear.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 61 people aboard remained safe.

    Onur Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    OnurairOnur Air flight 8Q-371 had to make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on January 19.

    The Airbus A320-200 was flying from Istanbul, Turkey, when the crew requested an emergency landing due to a landing gear problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. No injuries were reported.
