Avianca flight AV-9398 had to return and make an emergency landing at El Dorado International Airport, Bogota, Colombia, on December 11.
The Airbus A318-100, en-route to Pasto, Colombia, had to return after one of its engines failed. The engine had to be shutdown mid-air.
The plane landed safely.
All 99 people aboard remained unhurt.

Why: While en route, a passenger was ill. The flight diverted to DC to get the passenger assistance, and made a safe landing. THe passenger was transported to the Health Sciences Centre and the flight resumed.
Binter Canarias Airlines flight NT-1K had to divert and make an emergency landing in Gran Canaria, Spain, on October 18th.
The plane was heading from Valverde to Tenerife, Spain, when the crew decided to divert due to an issue with landing gear.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
An Air India Boeing 777 en route from Newark to Mumbai had 292 passengers and 21 crew aboard when it took off at 4:36 in the afternoon. Witnesses saw flames shooting from the left engine when flight 144 took off.
Pilots reported problems with the left engine, and twenty-two minutes after taking off, returned to land in Newark.
The landing must have been pretty hard, because tires were blown. The airport’s New Jersey spokeswoman Erica Dumas described it as a “rough landing.” Also, the left engine problems were attributed to a bird strike.
Passengers disembarked and were provided hotel accommodations while they rebooked.

SkyWest Airlines flight OO-4594 made an emergency landing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on September 8th.
The plane took off for Minneapolis, Minnesota, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an issue with the right hand engine.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

What: THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-200 en route from Istanbul to Tunis
Where: Tunis
When: Oct 10th 2010
Who: 230 passengers
Why: While en route, the flight encountered turbulence, during which 4 crew members and 4 passengers sustained injuries, two of which were serious.
The flight made a safe landing in Tunis where the injured were taken to hospitals.
Silver Airways flight 3099 had to return and make an emergency landing at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Florida, on October 6.
The plane was heading to Key West when its windshield cracked, forcing the pilots to return.
The plane landed safely. No one was injured.
The passengers were transported to Key West in another flight.
The FAA is investigating.
