    Sichuan Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in China

    Sichuan Airlines flight 3U-8633 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Chengdu, China, on May 14th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane heading from Chongqing to Lhasa, China, was diverted after the right-hand windshield completely shattered, partially pulling the co-pilot out of the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely.

    The airline said the co-pilot received skin abrasions and another crew member sustained a waist injury.

    Vueling Flight Makes Emergency Landing after Hydraulic Failure

    VuelingVueling flight VY-7574 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Malaga, Spain, on June 11th.

    The Airbus A320-200, heading from Barcelona, Spain, to Banjul, Gambia, was diverted after the crew reported a hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 110 passengers remained safe.

    Vintage Helicopter Crashes in CA

    What: Piasecki PV-18 en route from Adelanto to Flabob
    Where: Highway 395, one mile south of Adelanto Airport, CA
    When: Nov 7, 2009, 8:30 a.m.
    Who: 3 fatalities
    Why: After takeoff, the helicopter struck power lines and caught afire.

    The helicopter (owned by Joseph William Pike of Victorville CA) was a vintage military aircraft built in 1951. The crash destroyed the helicopter, and there were no survivors.

    Nordwind Airlines Flight Returns to Yekaterinburg due to Loss of Cabin Pressure

    Nordwind Airlines flight N4-174 had to return and make an emergency landing in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on January 17th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Sheremetyevo International Airport, Russia, but had to turn back due to the loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Ameriflight Beechcraft C99 Airliner en route from Phoenix to Show Low
    Where: AZ
    When: Nov 4, 2009
    Who: 1
    Why: While en route, the cargo plane had a bird strike through the windshield, injuring the pilot. Apparently the large bird shattered the windshield, spraying glass and bird over the interior. The pilot landed safely in Show Low and required stitches.

    What: Mooney M20M en route from Grand Rapids to Traverse City
    Where: northwestern Randolph County three miles east of Albany
    When: Wednesday at 12:43 p.m.
    Who: David J. Eyde
    Why: Speculation is that Eyde lost consciousness of hypoxia while flying over Michigan, the crisis somehow involving the plane’s air supply at 23000 feet. Air National Guard pilots could see the pilot, unconscious in the cockpit. The plane flew till it’s 4 hours of fuel ran out.

    The plane crashed while out of control, and being followed by F-16 fighter jets
