    Foreign Dignitaries Killed as Military Helicopter Crashed in Pakistan

    A Military helicopter crashed into a school in Naltar, near Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, on May 8.

    The Mi-17 helicopter was transporting foreign dignitaries to the inauguration ceremony of a ski resort chairlift when it crashed and caught fire. Initial investigations reveal that the accident happened due to a mechanical fault in the helicopter.

    There were 17 people aboard the aircraft at the time of the crash. Authorities confirmed that seven of them, including the Norwegian envoy Leif H Larsen, the Philippines ambassador Domingo D Lucenario, the wives of the Indonesian and Malaysian envoys, 2 Pakistan Air Force pilots and one technician, were killed.

    Others, including the Dutch and Polish ambassadors, were injured and were airlifted to a local military hospital.

    Delta Airlines Flight Rejects Takeoff From JFK Airport

    Delta Airlines flight DL-420 had to reject takeoff from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on October 1st.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Accra, Ghana, when the crew reported disagreeing airspeeds and rejected takeoff.

    Fire broke out in the right main gear as the plane was taxiing to the gate. Emergency services responded and put out the fire.

    All two hundred and fifty people aboard remained unharmed.

    Qantas Airlines Plane Returns to China due to Hydraulic Failure

    QantasQantas Airlines flight QF-130 had to return and make an emergency landing at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Shanghai, China, on September 15.

    The Airbus A330-300 flying to Sydney, Australia, had to burn off its fuel and return due to a hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed safely.

    Blue Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Henri Coanda International Airport

    Blue Air flight 0B-9247 made an emergency landing at Henri Coanda International Airport, Romania, on June 29th.

    The Boeing 737-400 plane took off for Palma de Mallorca Airport, Spain, but had to turn back due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    When: May 19 2010, 12:36 p.m.
    Why: The pilot reported engine problems just after takeoff, and requested an emergency landing at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The flight landed safely, with one engine shut down. The flight landed safely with emergency teams on standby.

    Mechanics began working on fixing the problem.

    Saudi Arabian Airlines flight SV-123 made a safe landing at Manchester Airport, England, United Kingdom, on July 20th.

    The Boeing 787-900 flying from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was about to reach when the crew noticed an issue with its flaps.
