Mechanics began working on fixing the problem.

What: Flybe de Havilland Dash 8-400 from Birmingham to Aberdeen
Where: Manchester

Who: 30 passengers
Why: While en route, a burning smell was detected. The flight diverted to Manchester where it made a safe landing. Passengers debarked on the runway via stairs.
The burning smell originated in the galley.
A replacement jet was provided.

I’m glad there were no injuries involved; but I chuckle picturing the chargeback on some flight attendant’s chit because the airline was forced to land the plane when she 1. burned the toast or
2. accidentally toasted the microwave or
