    Richmond Attorney Killed in North Carolina Plane Crash

    CessnaA celebrated aviation expert and attorney, Albert M. Orgain IV, was killed after his single-engine Cessna 182 went down in a field, around 5 miles southwest of the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport in North Carolina, on June 27.

    The aircraft took off from Sabot Airport, located west of Richmond, Virginia, and was destined for the Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport. According to the FAA, the plane crashed after the pilot reported engine trouble at about 10 a.m. and diverted the plane to the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport.

    The plane was registered to Albert M. Orgain IV, who was an aviation expert, a Richmond-area attorney and a member of Sands Anderson law firm. Sands Anderson law firm confirmed that Orgain was flying the plane at the time of accident.

    The FAA and NTSB is investigating the cause of crash.

    American Airlines Landing Gear Forces Diversion

    What: American Airlines Dallas to St. Louis
    Where: Dallas
    When: Oct 2, 2012, 8:40 a.m
    Why: On takeoff, the American Airlines landing gear jammed.

    Pilots returned to Dallas and made a safe landing at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Passengers were provided an alternative plane to St. Louis.

    This is just one of numerous maintenance issues plaguing American Airlines.

    8,000 pilots have been casting votes for a month on authorization for their union to call a strike, escalating a long-running labor dispute with the airlines.

    The voting deadline passes at noon central time on Wednesday (1 p.m. EDT)

    Delta Flight Diverts to Phoenix

    On Friday January 4, 2012, Delta flight 65 en route from Atlanta to Las Vegas experienced engine problems and had to divert to sky Harbor.

    The Boeing 757-200 made a safe landing minus one engine with emergency services on standby. An inspection determined there had been a fuel leak. Passengers were provided an alternative flight and were scheduled to land in Las Vegas before 8:30 pm.’

    Envoy Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Miami

    Envoy Air flight MQ-3373 had to return for an emergency landing in Miami, Florida, on January 13th.

    The plane took off for Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Kentucky, but had to turn back after the crew reported a landing gear problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    CityJet Flight Returns to Amsterdam due to Nose Gear Problem

    CityJet flight WX-180 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on January 13th.

    The plane took off for London, United Kingdom, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an issue with nose gear.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Who: 94 passengers 5 crew
    Why: While en route, a noxious electrical smell developed. Crew complained of illness and diverted to Raleigh Durham NC where they made a safe landing.
