A Porter Airlines flight made an emergency landing at J.A. Douglas McCurdy Airport in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, on October 19.
The plane was en-route from Halifax to St. John’s when the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit and decided to divert.
The plane landed safely.
All 68 people aboard remained unhurt.
Aerolineas Argentinas flight AR-1865 suffered a drone strike near Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 11th.
The incident happened when the Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Trelew, Argentina, was on final approach to Aeroparque Jorge Newbery.
The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
An offshore helicopter made an emergency landing at Aberdeen International Airport in Scotland, United Kingdom, on May 16.
The helicopter, belonging to Babcock Mission Critical Services Offshore Ltd., declared emergency while flying over North Sea.
According to a Babcock Mission Critical Services Offshore spokesperson, “We can confirm that an s-92 helicopter requested priority landing at Aberdeen airport after crew reported a cockpit warning light illumination…The aircraft made an uneventful landing just after 2pm and the 18 passengers on board were given a de-brief by the crew…The aircraft is currently being examined by engineers and will be subject to a detailed series of checks and tests before it’s returned to service.”

Who: 104 passengers
Why: There was no fire, but when a sensor detected an apparent problem in the cargo hold, the pilot chose to land immediately. Passengers lunched at the base’s Officer’s Club before boarding another Southwest flight which carried them to their destination.

What: Sunexpress Boeing 737-800 en route from Antalya to Saarbruecken, Germany
Where: Antalya Turkey
When: Nov 7th 2009
Who: 127 passengers
Why: After takeoff, the flight developed a problem with cabin pressure, and also developed a smoky smell. The plane returned to Turkey for a safe landing.
Passengers debarked without incident, and were provided an alternative flight.
The smell was determined to have originated in the oxygen generators.

What: Lufthansa Cityline Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Stockholm Arlanda Sweden to Hamburg
Where: near Stockholm
When: Nov 8th, 2009
Who: 43 on board
Why: The crew reported to ATC that the plane was overheating and that there was smoke in the cabin.
When an emergency was declared, the flight returned to Stockholm. The crew shut down the right engine and made a safe, injury-free landing back in Stockholm.
The incident is under investigation.
A small plane flying from Swansea Airport to Popham Airfield in Basingstoke had to make an emergency landing at Jersey Marine, a beach at Swansea, Wales, UK, at around 16:00 BST on July 22.
The plane carrying 3 people was flying at 2,000 ft when the pilot noticed that something was wrong with the engine and decided to make an emergency landing on the beach.
No major damage was done to the plane and no one was hurt. The owner of the plane, Derek Clyde, 60, from Kidwelly said the pilot, James Hooton, did an excellent job. “He is an ex-RAF pilot and very experienced,” said Clyde.
He also said, “We have just recovered the aircraft and the engine will be sent to the manufacturers and rebuilt in about eight weeks…The Air Accident Investigation Branch has been in touch and said it will not be investigating as it was an off-airfield landing with no damage and no injuries.”
