    Helicopter Crash Lands near Horsebend; 2 Injured

    helicopterA Rohinson R22 Beta II helicopter made a crash landing near the Horsebend area, south of Gardnerville, in Douglas County, Nevada, in the afternoon of August 27.

    The pilot, identified as Dolye Holden, and his friend, Karen Cole, were returning from the Horsebend area, after fishing in Carson River, when the helicopter started malfunctioning and they had to make the crash landing.

    According to the authorities, 2 people suffered minor injuries in the accident. They were able to call another pilot who then flew them to Carson Valley Medical Centre for treatment.

    The NTSB is investigating the cause of the crash.

    Alitalia Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Italy

    Alitalia flight AZ-1531 had to return and make an emergency landing in Cagliari, Italy, on August 22nd.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Linate Airport, Italy, but had to turn back after the crew noticed an issue with one of the engines and decided to shut it down.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All one hundred and sixty-seven passengers and six crew members remained safe.

    Flybe Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Belfast International Airport

    Flybe flight BE-653 made an emergency landing at Belfast International Airport, Northern Ireland, on January 14th.

    The plane heading from Birmingham, England, to Ireland West Airport Knock, Ireland, was diverted due to an issue with the flaps.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Munich Emergency Landing by Lufthansa/Air Dolomiti

    What: Lufthansa/Air Dolomiti Avion de Transport Regional ATR-72-500 en route from Munich to Venice
    Where: Munich
    When: May 17th 2012, 13:35
    Who: 58 passengers and 4 crew
    Why: While en route ten minutes into the flight, the plane developed smoke in the cockpit and cabin. The crew returned to Munich. On approach to Munich, the crew had to shut down the right engine.

    On landing, the plane veered off the runway on to the grass, ran into some obstructions and stopped with a collapsed nose gear. During rescue, twenty flights were diverted. The plane is presently sinking into soft round.

    The passengers were evacuated. Other than one person with back injuries, no injuries were reported.

    Cartagena Flight Diverts to Palm Beach

    What: Spirit Airlines Airbus A319-100 en route from Cartagena, Colombia to Fort Lauderdale
    Where: Palm Beach International Airport
    When: Oct 25, 2012
    Who: 54 aboard
    Why: As pilots were flying from Cartagena, Colombia to Fort Lauderdale, the plane developed problems and the pilots had to divert the flight. According to one source, one of the engines developed problems and was shut down. (Reports vary on the exact nature of the issue behind the diversion.)

    Pilots diverted to Palm Beach International Airport where they made a safe landing.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Safe Landing after Bird Strike

    american airlinesAmerican Airlines flight AA-952 made a safe landing after bird strike in Newark, New Jersey, on September 24th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, was on final approach when a bird hit it.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
