    Turkish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Istanbul

    Turkish Airlines flight TK-1955 made an emergency landing in Istanbul, Turkey, on July 4th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Amsterdam, Netherlands, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Timothy Gerber Praised for Emergency Landing

    What: Cessna flying from Omaha to Des Moines
    Where: Highway 169, five miles north of Winterset Iowa
    When: around 9:45 pm Thursday October 2, 2008
    Who: Pilot Timothy Gerber
    Why: Pilot called Mayday. Flames were shooting out of the engine, but the pilot managed to land safely.

    The landing missed power lines and cars as he stopped in the middle of the busy road. The plane was reportedly undamaged in spite of landing in the dark.

    The pilot received encouragement from KCCI Chief Meterologist and pilot John McLaughlin who was flying at the time and heard him on the onboard radio

    Sydney-Bound Virgin Australia Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Canberra Airport

    Virgin australiaVirgin Australia flight VA1179 had to make an emergency landing at Canberra Airport, Australia, at around 5:30 p.m. on January 16.

    According to the airline spokesperson, “In line with standard operating procedures, the captain decided to divert to Canberra as a precautionary measure after a cockpit indication light illuminated.” The flight was en-route from Albury to Sydney at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully and all the passengers and crew members remained unhurt.

    The engineers examined the plane and cleared it after some time for resuming the flight.

    FedEx Federal Express Plane Diverts to New Jersey due to Fuel Leakage

    FedEx Federal Express flight FX-9792 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, New Jersey, on April 29th.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 flying from Memphis, Tennessee, was en-route to Cologne, Germany, when the crew reported fuel leakage.

    The plane landed safely.

    No injuries were reported.

    WestJet Encore Plane Makes Safe Landing in Canada after Flaps Problem

    WestJetWestJet Encore flight WS-3415 continued for a safe landing at Thunder Bay International Airport, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, on April 4th.

    The De Havilland Dash 8-400, en-route from Toronto to Thunder Bay, was on approach to the runway when the crew reported some problem with the flaps and resolved to make flaps up landing.

    The plane landed successfully.

    All 56 people onboard remained unharmed.

    Transavia Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    Transavia flight HV-5022 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on October 14th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Malaga, Spain, to Rotterdam, Netherlands, was diverted due to an issue with the flaps.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
