    Scandinavian Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Smoke in Cabin

    Scandinavian Airlines flight SK-1758 had to return and make an emergency landing in Gdansk, Poland, on June 20th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane took off for Copenhagen, Denmark, but had to return shortly afterwards due to smoke in the cabin.

    The plane landed back safely. All eighty-eight passengers and five crew members remained unharmed.

    Single-Engine Plane Hits a Truck on Pyramid Highway

    MustangA P-51 Mustang single engine plane which took off from Reno-Stead Airport and was en route to South Dakota crashed on Pyramid Highway just north of Spanish Springs in Nevada at around 8 a.m. on July 26.

    The accident happened after an experimental Roscher built Thunder Mustang ‘Miss Picabo’ experienced mechanical failure and its engine stopped suddenly. The pilot and the co-pilot then decided to make emergency landing at Pyramid Highway and eventually crashed into a truck travelling northbound with at least 2 people aboard.

    The aircraft caught fire after the crash. However, the pilot and the co-pilot managed to get out of it in just minutes. No major injuries were reported except for some scratches from broken glass.

    Recalling the accident, the Pilot Fred Roscher of Cupertino said, “The plane was flying, and then, all of a sudden the engine just died….. We touched down and immediately hit him [the truck]… A couple minutes later, the plane caught fire and was completely consumed.”

    Two lane Pyramid Lake Road remained closed for six hours.

    The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the mechanical failure of the aircraft.

    What: O’Neal Aviation LLC Beechcraft E90 King Air en route from Amarillo to Fort Worth
    Where: Armstrong County Texas
    When: Dec 14, 2012
    Who: pilot
    Why: The pilot was en route and ten minutes into the flight when he lost control.Witnesses saw the plane go down south of Farm-to-Market Road 1258 in Armstrong County.

    The pilot was killed. The plane disappeared from radar at 6 pm. The debris field was located on Dec 14.

    Miami-Dade Police Department Chopper Makes Emergency Landing

    chopperA Police helicopter made an emergency landing near Miami Seaquarium in Key Biscayne, Florida, on September 15.

    According to Miami-Dade Police Department, the pilot requested an emergency landing after he noticed some mechanical issues in the aircraft.

    The helicopter landed safely.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, remained unhurt.

    Frontier Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Las Vegas

    Frontier Airlines flight F9-429 made an emergency landing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 20th.

    The Airbus A320-200N plane heading from Denver, Colorado, to Reno, Nevada, was diverted due to an issue with one of the navigation computers.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Bird-Hit American Airlines Flight Makes Safe Landing at McAllen Miller International Airport

    American Airlines flight AA-5772 made a safe landing after suffering a bird strike near McAllen Miller International Airport, Texas, on October 20th.

    The plane flying from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, was on final approach to McAllen Miller International Airport when a bird hit it.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
