    What: Air France Boeing 747-400 en route from Guadalajara to Paris
    Where: Guadalajara
    When: Jan 21st 2010
    Who: crew (freight)
    Why: When the pilot aborted the takeoff due to alerts, the plane’s tires deflated due to overheating from braking. The flight was cancelled. We have no indication what the instrumentation indicated that caused the pilot to abort the takeoff.

    Single-Engine Plane Crashes in Mojave Desert, CA

    small planeA single engine plane crashed into El Mirage Dry Lake in Adelanto, Mojave Desert, California.

    According to Tracey Martinez, spokesperson of the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the two-seater plane crashed into the dry lake bed at about 11:30 a.m. on June 9. She also said that the plane flipped several times before coming to rest.

    Brian Lee, a 47-year-old Los Angeles Fire Department pilot and firefighter paramedic, died at the hospital. A boy believed to be under 10 years old, was injured and was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

    The aircraft also sustained serious damage.

    The cause of accident is under investigation.

    False Alarm in Fond du Lac


    What: Alleged crash reported
    Where: Mitchell Road area east of Highway 45.
    When: 3:40 p.m
    Who: no one
    Why: A farmer reported a low-flying plane followed by a puff of smoke. Rescue rushed to the scene, including a medical evacuation helicopter, but the crisis turned out to be a pile of burning leaves. Two planes which had been flying in the area at the time were accounted for. No plane was involved.

    Delta Emergency Landing in Indianapolis

    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Minneapolis to Atlanta
    Where: Indianapolis
    When: Jan 15th 2010 8:00 am
    Who: 160 people on board
    Why: While en route, the plane indicated that it had developed an oil leak. Pilots diverted to Indianapolis where it made a safe landing.

    Maintenance is looking for the cause of the indicator. The engine did not fail. If the engine is “recertified” by maintenance, passengers will continue on that plane; if not, alternative transport will be provided.

    CSA First Officer Lands Alone after Captain Succumbs

    What: CSA Czech Airlines Avion de Transport Regional ATR-42-500 en route from Warsaw to Prague
    Where: Prague
    When: Feb 15th 2012
    Who: 1 fatality
    Why: After a normal flight, on approach to Prague, the first officer informed ATC that the captain was incapacitated. The f.o. landed the plane.

    Emergency services responded, but the captain was pronounced dead. He as 58 years old.

    Boeing 707 Cargo Plane Crashes in Iran; 15 Dead

    A cargo plane crashed at Fath Airport in Karaj, Iran, on January 14th.

    Authorities said the Boeing 707 cargo plane overshot the runway, hit a wall and caught fire.

    There were sixteen people aboard at the time; fifteen of them were killed in the crash, while one person survived.

    The plane was brining meat from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan at the time.
