Where: Amsterdam
When: Mar 2nd 2012
Why: While landing in Amsterdam, communications became disrupted between two landing pilots.
The crew of the British Airways flight made a cautious safe landing ten minutes after radio problems began.
The plane was able to perform the return flight as scheduled.

What: Jetblue Airbus A320-200 en route from New York to Burlington,VT

When: Feb 19th 2011
Who: 2 injured
Why: On approach to Burlington, the plane encountered severe turbulence, which injured two flight attendants. The pilot continued, to make a safe landing in Burlington. Both attendants were hospitalized, one with bruises, and one with broken ribs.

Why: The plane incurred a fire in the left engine on landing. Fire crews put out the fire; and passengers safely debarked. (Not necessarily in that order.)

Where: Orlando
When: Sep 1st 2009
Why: Fifteen minutes into the flight, the right engine developed a bleed air leak which caused the cabin to lose pressure
What: Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190 en route to Rochester
Where: JFK Airport
When: Monday Sept 7 2009
Why: The flight diverted to JFK when the plane filled with fumes

Why: On landing at Luis Eduardo Magalhaes International Airport, the pilot experienced problems with the landing gear.
The plane made a belly landing but there were no injuries reported. The runway was closed briefly.
No injuries! Safe landing! Always good to hear.
American Airlines flight AA-574 made an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida, on September 19th.
The Airbus A320-200 was flying from Phoenix, Arizona, when the crew reported a landing gear issue and declared an emergency.
The plane landed uneventfully. There were 146 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

Where: Springfield-Branson National Airport.

Who: 22 passengers on board
Why: When smoke appeared in the cockpit, the pilot made an emergency landing in Springfield. No injuries reported and the source of the smoke was not found.
Not too sure how the passengers felt about ending up in Springfield instead of NY though.

What: Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400 en route from Amsterdam to Hong Kong
Where: Karaganda
When: Nov 28 2010
Who: 306 passengers and 20 crew
Why: While en route, the cabin suffered a loss of pressure. Oxygen masks were released and the crew descended to a lower altitude as they diverted to Karaganda Kazakhstan. The plane landed at the nearest airport, and were served breakfast aboard the plane while “emergency visa exemptions” were secured for the passengers. Hours later, passengers were taken to hotels to await the arrival of another flight.
Cathay Pacific confirmed the air pressure problem related to outflow valve assemblies they are replacing on their fleet.
