Where: Mitchell Road area east of Highway 45.
When: 3:40 p.m
Who: no one
Why: A farmer reported a low-flying plane followed by a puff of smoke. Rescue rushed to the scene, including a medical evacuation helicopter, but the crisis turned out to be a pile of burning leaves. Two planes which had been flying in the area at the time were accounted for. No plane was involved.

A Piper PA-28 plane crashed near Loch Etive in Argyll region of Scotland, on April 4.
Authorities said the plane crashed after it lost contact in Glen Kinglass’ Beinn nan Lus area, at around 1:50 p.m. It is believed that the accident happened when the aircraft was heading from east Scotland to Hebrides Island, Tiree.
Two people were killed in the crash. Their bodies were recovered along with the wreckage.
The cause of crash is under investigation.

Who: 4 people on board: two engineers (co-pilot Marco Zago and Stefano da Forno), a doctor (Spaziani Fabrizio) and the pilot (Dario De Felipe)
Why: The helicopter appeared to have hit a high voltage cable while flying in bad weather. The helicopter was in the process of responding to landslide near Rio Gere, towards Passo Tre Croci. Continued bad weather hampered recovery efforts.This would have been Zago’s last mission before transferring to another job.
The remains have been recovered, however, and were taken to the hospitap mortuary in Cortina Codivilla. This hazardous area frequently requires mountain rescue services.
