What: American Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from New York to Madrid
Where: Madrid
When: Aug 31 2010 6.58 a.m.
Why: Prior to arriving in Madrid, the plane indicated problems with the braking system. The pilot “raised the alert” so that emergency crews were on standby. However, flight 94 landed safely. (No indication yet on what the brake problem was.)
All Nippon Airways flight NH-805 made an emergency landing in Okinawa, Japan, on December 15th.
The Boeing 787-800 plane heading from Narita International Airport, Japan, to Bangkok, Thailand, was diverted after an unusual odor was noticed in the cockpit and cabin.
The plane, carrying two hundred and forty-two people, landed safely.
One elderly woman passenger complained of pain in eyes and was taken to a hospital.
WILLIAMTOWN, New South Wales, Feb. 8, 2010 — Boeing Defence Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA], has been awarded a $1.5 million contract for the provision of engineering support services for the Royal Australian Air Force’s (RAAF) fleet of F/A-18A/B Hornet aircraft.
The 30-month contract, managed by the Tactical Fighter Systems Program Office (TFSPO) at RAAF Base Williamtown, requires Boeing Defence Australia to deliver repair plans for faults uncovered during F/A-18A/B Hornet maintenance.
“This contract maintains our F/A-18 engineering capability as it increases our overall business on the platform,” said Brad Hume, Boeing Defence Australia F/A-18 program manager.
Boeing Defence Australia has delivered engineering support services to the TFSPO for the past six years. It also continues to perform Hornet Upgrade Phase 2.3, which involves upgrading the Electronic Warfare Self Protection Suite on 68 aircraft and modifying 76 wing pylons. Phase 2.3 is expected to be completed in 2012.
“The RAAF’s decision to award this contract to us demonstrates their faith in Boeing’s ability to support the F/A-18 platform,” Hume said. “We will continue working closely with our customer to maintain the Hornet’s air combat capability.”
Under the new contract, engineering services will now be delivered under Boeing Defence Australia’s Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO) certificate.

What: AeroMexico Connect Embraer ERJ-145 en route from San Antonio to Mexico City
Where: Ciudad Victoria
When: May 13th 2010
Who: 31 passengers
Why: The Aeromexico Connect had a fire alert in a cargo compartment. They diverted to Ciudad Victoria where they made a safe landing. A replacement jet was flown in the next day. Also, the fire alert appeared to be a groundless indicator error; no fire was found.
What: Delta Boeing 757 en route from Atlanta
Where: Tampa International Airport.
When: 09/07/2009
Who: 150 passengers and crew
Why: The pilot reported a fuel problem prior to making a safe landing at TIA. Fire crews were waiting, but the flight landed without further incident.

What: Jetblue Airbus A320-200 en route from Aruba to Boston,MA
Where: Bermuda
When: Dec 29th 2009
Who: 63 passengers
Why: While en route, the crew reported smoke from the avionics and chose to divert to Bermuda International Airport. Avionics were turned off and the smoke dissipated. The plane was able to land safely with tower clearance and no visible external smoke or fire.
Restarting the avionics systems also restarted the smoke.
After landing, maintenance checked the rear cargo hold for airline-reported smoke. The airline denies there was smoke in the cockpit.

What: Aeroflot Airbus A321-200 en route from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Sochi
Where: Sochi
When: Mar 7th 2012
Who: 148 passengers
Why: The flight was on approach to Sochi when it was struck by lightning.
Pilots made a safe landing in Sochi, with visible damage to the plane.
