    Jeju Air Plane Rejects Takeoff From Jeju City, South Korea

    Jeju Air flight 7C-510 had to reject takeoff from Jeju City, South Korea, on September 29th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Busan, South Korea, when the tower instructed the crew to stop.

    The crew subsequently rejected takeoff at high speed. Several tires deflated and the plane became disabled on the runway.

    All one hundred and fifty people aboard remained unharmed.

    What: Lion Air Boeing 737-900
    Where: Jakarta Indonesia
    When: August 24, 2012, 3:35 a.m.
    Who: no fatalities
    Why: The right wing of Lion Air Boeing 737-900(PK-LFL) grazed the tail of (PK-OCU)Airfast Indonesia MD 82 which was improperly parked. (The incident appears to be due to negligent parking.)

    The Lion Air plane had been scheduled to take-off at 5:20.

    An investigation is underway.

    United Airlines Flight Diverts to Tallahassee due to Smell of Smoke in Cabin

    United Airlines flight UA-1239 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Tallahassee, Florida, on June 13th.

    The Boeing 737-900 plane heading from Miami, Florida, to Chicago, Illinois, was diverted after smell of smoke was noticed in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. There were one hundred and fifty-five people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Pegasus Airlines Flight Makes Safe Landing After Bird Strike

    Pegasus Airlines flight PC-2862 made a safe landing following a bird strike near Gulyali, Turkey, on August 16th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Sabiha Gokçen International Airport, Turkey, was on final approach to Gulyali when a bird hit it.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Flight Returns to Amsterdam due to Fuel Balance Problem

    United Airlines flight UA-2823 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on May 18th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Newark, New Jersey, but had to turn back after the crew noticed a fuel balance problem.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Tracking Down #MH370 or Physics of an Air Space Game of Marco Polo


    The guessing/math triangulating the path of Inmarsat’s pings was the only thing experts seemed to agree on regarding to pinning down the location of Malaysia Airlines flight 370. Yet at the location, at least, the location according to the data laying out the path according to Inmarsat’s analysis, nothing was found in the recent search of the ocean floor off the coast of Australia. The engineers and mathematicians involved may have done their best but the guess seems to have been faulty or otherwise off somehow. If you will pardon the circular reasoning, if only we knew how it was off, we would know how it was off.

    Investigators have come up with two maps that can be drawn based on the ping data, based on the speed. The variation is due to considerations of the pings which do not indicate the speed or direction the plane was moving, but only the probable distance between plane and satellite.     However, there is opposition to the Inmarsat calculations which is presented by * Michael Exner (founder of the American Mobile Satellite Corporation) **Duncan Steel(physicist and visiting scientist at NASA’s Ames Research Center) and satellite technology consultant ***Tim Farrar which presents other data that should be considered.     My pragmatic response to these experts is a major simplification: just that the plane did not disappear into a textbook, under textbook conditions. The pings occurred in a real atmosphere, with atmospheric variations that were not and possibly could not have been taken into account. Not only are the speed, direction and height of the aircraft factors that must be taken into account, but also the quality of the atmosphere, density, weather, etc, plus factors that a non-mathmatical, non-scientist like myself would not even know how to bring into the picture. In this search at least, the untested math used is as vulnerable as statistics is to presenting a defective or imprecise representation, or a representation which would only be true under certain conditions.
