UTair Aviation flight UT-258 had to make an emergency landing at Vnukovo International Airport, Russia, on February 13th.
The Boeing 737-500 plane was flying from Saint Petersburg, Russia, when the crew reported a fuel leak and had to shut down one of the engines.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
British Airways flight BA-16 had to return and make an emergency landing at Singapore Changi Airport, Singapore, on July 13th.
The Boeing 777-300 flying to London Heathrow Airport, England, had to return due to engine failure.
The plane landed safely.
No one was injured.
American Airlines flight 295 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Lubbock, Texas, on December 23.
According to the airline, the plane, heading from Miami, Florida, to Los Angeles, California, was diverted due to a “mechanical issue.”
The plane landed uneventfully. All 186 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.
The airline arranged a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

What: Air Nostrum Dash 8 Q-300 en route from Barcelona to San Sebastian
Where: El Prat, Barcelona
When: October 22, 2009
Who: 31 passengers, 3 flight crew
Why: While en route, the Dash 8 developed a problem with its nose gear and returned to Barcelona for an emergency landing. The plane landed safely with the front landing gear retracted, and after they debarked, were provided an alternative Air Nostrum flight to continue to their destination.

What: Germanwings Airbus A319-100 en route from Vienna to Cologne
Where: Cologne
When: Dec 19th 2010
Why: On landing in Cologne, smoke in the cockpit sent pilots to the hospital. The smoke is so far unexplained.
KLM Cityhopper flight KL-1887 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on June 5th.
The plane took off for Nuremberg, Germany, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Air India flight AI-662 made an emergency landing in Mumbai, India, on May 21st.
The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Goa, India, was descending toward Mumbai Airport when the crew reported a hydraulic failure.
The plane landed safely and was towed to the apron.
All one hundred and forty-three passengers remained unharmed.
