    KLM Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    KLM flight KL-1779 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on August 27th.

    The plane took off for Hamburg, Germany, but had to turn back due to a navigation computer failure.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Virgin Australia Hits Turbulence

    What: Virgin Australia Boeing 777-300 en route from Phuket Thailand to Melbourne
    Where: over Jakarta
    When: Jan 31, 2011
    Who: 4 passengers, 4 flight attendants
    Why: While en route, the flight encountered twenty seconds of turbulence that tossed just-served food, flight attendants, passengers and trolleys around, and shook them up. On encountering the turbulence, the pilot made an announcement requesting “passengers buckle their seatbelts.”

    Two to four members of the flight crew sustained minor injuries, and four passengers. They were attended by paramedics six hours after the turbulence, on landing at Melbourne.

    Reports of food poisoning on this flight were unsubstantiated.

    Horizon Air Plane Returns to Portland due to Smell of Smoke

    Horizon Air flight QX-2794 had to return and make an emergency landing in Portland, Oregon, on April 28th.

    The plane took off for Albuquerque, New Mexico, but had to return shortly afterwards due to smell of smoke in the cabin.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    JetBlue Flight Diverted to Norfolk due to Unknown Odor in the Cabin

    JetBlueJetBlue flight 1534 had to divert and make and emergency landing at Norfolk International Airport, Virginia, at around 4:30 p.m. on January 12.

    The Embraer aircraft, en-route from Tampa, Florida to Hartford, Connecticut, was diverted after the crew reported a strange odor in the cabin.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 93 people aboard remained safe.

    Another aircraft was arranged which later took the passengers to Hartford.

    Delta Flight 6077 Makes Emergency Landing at JFK

    DeltaDelta Airlines flight 6077, which took off from Port Columbus International Airport, Ohio at 5:35 p.m., had to make an emergency landing at JFK Airport’s Runway 22L at 6:55p.m. on June 3.

    It was learned after landing that the shreds of the tire came off during the take-off. The pilot, not being sure of what happened, decided to make an emergency landing.

    The Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft, being operated by Chautauqua Airlines, had 47 people on board.

    The plane was inspected by the Port Authority Police Aircraft Fire Rescue Unit, who discovered the damage.

    Lot Airlines Temporary Boeing Fix


    Pending solutions for the incidents involving the aircraft’s lithium-ion battery produced by Tokyo- based GS Yuasa Corp, while waiting for Boeing 787’s to come out of hibernation, from April 12 to the end of May Lot Airlines is leasing an Airbus SAS from Portugal’s Hi Fly. The A330 flies 18 in business and 288 in coach.

    Lot purchased 8 eight 787s, and has received two, one of which is Warsaw, and the other stranded in Chicago.

    If Dreamliner operations remain suspended beyond that date, the lease can be extended
