A twin-engine Cessna Citation Jet CJ1 owned by Donald L. Baker and his wife Dawn Hunter, crashed near Cedar Fort, Utah. Witnesses saw the airplane on fire and coming to pieces, and heard an explosion. The plane was due at Tucson but never arrived. Two unidentified bodies were recovered from a large debris field a mile long and a quarter mile wide. Snow and fog have been hampering recovery efforts. The names of the victims will be confirmed before they are released. FAA spokesman Allen Kenitze said the Cessna 525 “crashed under unknown circumstances.”

Impromptu landing in Thinkers Village in Monrovia.
An RA 22426 United Nations helicopter carrying 5 health workers and 4 crew from Spriggs Payne Airport to River Gee, Fishtown made a forced landing when the pilot detected engine problems. Only the pilot and possibly a crew member sustained injuries; apparently they had deep cuts in their heads. The pilot was taken by ambulance to be hospitalized.The Mil Mi-8AMT was operated by UTAir.
None of the health workers reported injury.
The pilot warmed the engine from around 11: 30 to 11:50, then took off with passengers and landed twice with mechanical issues.
During the forced landing/crash, the helicopter impacted a building under construction and another structure. Both were destroyed. The chopper’s right tire broke and the chopper’s front end sustained damaged. Liberia National Police and UNMIL Security responded to the scene and an investigation is underway.Three Die in Canadian Coast Guard Helicopter Crash
Three people died in a Canadian Coast Guard crash of a *MBB Bo 105 helicopter.The accident occurred in the McClure Strait near Banks Island in the Northwest Territories. THe helicopter was out of CCGS Amundsen, a T1200 Class Medium Arctic icebreaker and Arctic research vessel operated by the Canadian Coast Guard which performs ice breaking in winter, research in summer and is equipped for search and rescue, and pollution management.
The helicopter crew was on a reconnaissance mission to check ice conditions.
The names of the fatalities were released:
- Daniel Dube, the pilot;
- Marc Thibault, commanding officer of the CCGS Amundsen;
- Klaus Hochheim, an Arctic researcher, a respected climatologist and research associate with the Centre for Earth Observation Science (CEOS) at the University of Manitoba.
Their bodies were recovered.
The cause of the accident has not been determined, though it is presumed the Arctic being “one of the harshest and most challenging climates in the world” may be a factor, though failure of helicopter components has not been ruled out.

Why: The plane overran the runway—and departed the runway on landing—at Lindu airport in Yichun city in Heilongjiang province at 10:10 p.m, split on impact, exploded, and burst into flames. 53 people were rescued, three of whom with serious injuries.Ten survivors were transferred Yichun Rehabilitation Hospital, which has burn specialists. eight survivors were taken to Yichun Forestry Hospital.
The plane was a two-year old Embraer 190 leased from RBS Aviation Capital. Mesa Air Group was a financial partner in Kunpeng Airlines. The airline is now called Henan Airlines, is based in Henan province and is partially owned by Air China.
