    What: Delta/Pinnacle Airlines Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Detroit to Portland
    Where: Albany
    When: Jan 18th 2012
    Who: 51 passengers and 3 crew
    Why: While en route, the plane developed problems with the fuel gauge.

    Pilots diverted to Albany where they made a safe landing. The problem took two hours to repair, and the flight resumed.

    Van Nuys Emergency Landing


    What: Twin-engine Cessna 310 registered to Jade Aviation Services of Carson City, Nevada. en route from the San Fernando Valley Airport to Camarillo
    Where: Van Nuys Airport
    When: November 25, 2008 Landing safely at 12:30 p.m.
    Who: pilot and passenger
    Why: When the pilot realized that the nose gear had only partially deployed, he turned back to the Van Nuys Airport and burned off fuel before he landed successfully. No one was injured although the dangling gear collapsed on landing. Apparently the plane landed on its main wheels, then “gently” on it’s collapsing nose before rolling to a stop. Cited in several sources as a textbook landing.

    Airbus Emergency Landing in Russia

    What: Aeroflot Airbus A320-200 en route from Irkutsk to Moscow
    Where: Novosibirsk
    When: Jun 11th 2009
    Who: 116 passengers and six crew members
    Why: The Airbus made an emergency landing at Novosibirsk when the windshield cracked.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tucson

    American Airlines flight AA-2047 had to return and make an emergency landing in Tucson, Arizona, on June 24th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, but had to turn back after the crew reported hearing a loud bang.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    According to the FAA, the aircraft suffered a bird strike.

    Small Plane Crash-Lands at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport

    A small plane crash-landed at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Jefferson County, Colorado, on September 1st.

    Authorities said the pilot of the Cessna 210 plane radioed about a possible belly landing due to a landing gear malfunction.

    There were two people aboard, including the pilot and a passenger; both of them remained unharmed.
