    Air Arabia Cautionary Landing in Karachi

    What: Air Arabia Airbus A320-200 en route from Sharjah to Chittagong
    Where: Karachi
    When: Apr 25 2010
    Who: 155 passengers
    Why: After a smoke detector indicated smoke in the cargo hold, the pilot made a cautionary landing in Karachi. Passengers were accommodated in the airport lounge while the plane was inspected.

    The smoke detector later was determined to be faulty.

    Lufthansa Flight Returns to Munich due to Unusual Odor in Cockpit

    Lufthansa flight LH-2414 had to return and make an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, on June 29th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Stockholm, Sweden, but had to turn back due to an unusual odor in the cockpit.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    American Airlines Emergency Landing at Will Rogers World

    What: American Airlines MD-80 en route from Dallas to Calgary
    Where: Oklahoma City
    When: June 2, 2011
    Who: 56 passengers 5 crew
    Why: While en route, emergency indicators came on in the cockpit. The pilot diverted to Oklahoma City and landed at Will Rogers World Airport.

    The flight made a safe landing and passengers disembarked without problems. Maintenance is examining the plane

    China Eastern Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing after Lightning Strike

    China Eastern Airlines flight MU-5414 had to return and make an emergency landing in Chengdu, Sichuan province of China, on February 21st.

    The Airbus A321-200 took off for Shanghai Pudong International Airport, China, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a lightning strike.

    The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Nesma Airlines Plane Overruns Runway in Abha, Saudi Arabia

    Nesma Airlines flight NE-154 overran the end of runway in Abha, Saudi Arabia, on April 28th.

    The incident happened after the Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Cairo, Egypt, landed during thunderstorms.

    The plane was towed to the apron. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Cathay Pacific Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Hong Kong

    Cathay Pacific flight CX-899 made an emergency landing in Hong Kong, China, on February 10th.

    The Airbus A350-900 plane flying from Newark, New Jersey, was on approach to Hong Kong when the crew reported an issue with nose wheel steering.

    The plane subsequently landed safely and was towed to the gate.

    All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
