    Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Landing Gear Problem

    Saudi Arabian Airlines flight SV-768 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on April 23rd.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane heading from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Chennai, India, was diverted due to indication of a landing gear problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 127 people aboard remained safe.

    FedEx Federal Express Plane Diverts to New Jersey due to Fuel Leakage

    FedEx Federal Express flight FX-9792 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, New Jersey, on April 29th.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 flying from Memphis, Tennessee, was en-route to Cologne, Germany, when the crew reported fuel leakage.

    The plane landed safely.

    No injuries were reported.

    Gimpy Plane Delays Spicejet Flight 2x

    What: Spicejet Boeing 737-800 en route from Kolkata to Delhi
    Where: Kolkata
    When: Sep 8th 2010
    Who: 136 passengers
    Why: On taxi (or during takeoff) which was already an hour late, the Spicejet’s left engine was smoking.

    The pilot noticed the smoke, aborted the flight and returned the plane to the gate where maintenance worked on repairing the problem.

    After another delayed departure, the Spicejet was again en route. When the cabin did not pressurize a quarter of an hour later into the flight, the pilot turned back and made an emergency landing in Kolkata.

    At 10:20pm, passengers were flown out in a replacement plane.

    United Airlines Plane Diverts to Raleigh–Durham International Airport

    United Airlines flight UA-208 had to divert and make an unscheduled landing at Raleigh–Durham International Airport, North Carolina, on June 15th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Orlando, Florida, to Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, was diverted after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Where: Rovaniemi Finland
    When: Jan 3rd 2010
    Who: 181 passengers, 7 crew
    Why: After takeoff, the crew assumed there was a tail strike (no indication if this was witnessed or indicated by a resultant problem). The crew diverted to Rovaniemi where a maintenance crew was flown in to assess the plane.

    Turkish Airlines Plane Diverts to Kolkata due to Medical Emergency

    A Turkish Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Kolkata, India, on January 1st.

    The plane heading from Istanbul, Turkey, to Bangkok, Thailand, was diverted after a passenger suffered a medical emergency.

    The plane landed safely. The patient was rushed to a hospital.
